On the one hand, it’s awful two innocent people were killed. I don’t know the preceding circumstances but perhaps roadblocks could have prevented that from getting to that point.

On the other though, once it does what are the cops supposed to do? Just let these guys keep shooting at them and bystanders?

In this day and age it is hard not to...they are the enemy of free people. This incident is just another of the many that we've seen over the past decade.

The biggest scam in America...the govt having most everyone thinking that police are the good guys.

From my standpoint, the failure was preventing it from getting to this point and/or being more prepared for this situation.

Be more concerned with the safety of others than themselves, that's what they are paid to do.

But again, that entails allowing two trapped gunmen to continuing shooting? Until when? What’s the endgame?

The gunmen’s shots are every bit as dangerous, and they have nowhere to go. Their going to keep shooting until they’re stopped.

Some are, some aren’t, but that’s really irrelevant to this discussion.

What, EXACTLY, are the cops supposed to do once the gunmen start shooting in this case?

I used to think there were good cops and bad cops but after watching departments close ranks behind the bad ones I realized they are all the enemy.

I am conservative but I despise most cops. There are a few whom I respect, but they aren't your friend.

90% of the police force in this country will choose their pension over your civil rights/constitution.

THIS THIS THIS...

Although, you both are wasting your time with the freedom/liberty hating bootlickers that dominate this board.

However, I do enjoy seeing all the idiot posters that out themselves as "Yay Police State!" proponents.

Yep. Those that think the cops wouldn't take your guns are on some high quality smack.

Valid point... with emphasis on "in this thread".

Most of the pro-authoritarian PTBers won't venture into threads that short-circuit their programming.

World star link to people videoing inside the car the cops are hiding behind. Crazy! LINK.

Fast forward 45 seconds to get to the action.

Training, the lack there of. It is absolutely horrible. I ate dinner with my nephew and his wife over Thanksgiving weekend. He is a narcotics officer who often works undercover, and his team has the opportunity to fire his sidearm every month. It is part of their proficiency training, His wife is a SRO, IMO the first line of defense at a school. She fires her sidearm annually for qualification.

How many of those PO's in Miami have fired their sidearm in the last 30 days, 180 days? This needs to be fixed. Quit admiring the problem and do something about it. Train these people and afford them the opportunity to be proficient. Win-win for everyone.

Training is a small part of the issue. Most cops become cops because they have limited options. For a medium to low IQ person who grew up in the lower middle class and has a bit of a chip on their shoulder, a LEO job fulfills a lot of the missing pieces. But mainly, authority. Regardless of what ever economic advantage, physical attribute, etc. someone has in greater abundance than the LEO, some gov. agency has given him the power to mitigate any and all that with a badge and a gun. I don’t know the %, but I would estimate that 50% of LEOs fall under this category. You can train them all you want with a gun. Three days a week if you like but if they have a pre-disposed desire to play Rambo that’s what they are going to do. And if they are told to come get your guns, those kind will jump at the opportunity to exercise that authority. More so than the military.
