what qualifies as an assault rifle? Is it looks, certain features? What?

What can an AR-15 do once the trigger is pulled that say the standard glock 9mm or 45 do?

Even a gun like a tech 9 that was used at Columbine right along side shotguns.

Aren't AR-15's and for example 9mm regulated to small clips anyway?

Can an AR-15 or an "Assault Rifle" fire at a higher rate than a standard 9mm?

I am leaving out revolvers for obvious reasons. I am just concerned with guns that take clips.

The reason I am asking is, most of the school shooters had or used handguns during their killing spree's. Wouldn't they just use handguns or shotguns or whatever is available if AR's are banned? That's why I feel AR banning is pointless at least.

Assault rifles look scary, handguns are cool because rappers use them

It's easier to look like an idiot shooting a handgun holding it sideways.

Thank you. Always nice to know who to avoid without doing any of the heavy lifting.

The time you took, to type this to look cool, you could have just said something insightful. Or hell maybe even answered one of the questions.

I have a 9mm that has a 19 round magazine. It’s easy to change those. It operates very reliably. Is easy to conceal compared to a rifle. The fact of the matter is that a majority of the crimes are committed with handguns and not rifles, as the media portrays.

Mostly cosmetics. Hollywood drove a lot of the stuff that is for sale now. Looked great on screen but really just cosmetic.

Best salesman for a 9mm EVER was Hollywood with Lethal Weapon. Dirty Harry .44 Magnum. etc..

it's the difference between a rifle and a handgun

assault is just used to describe a gun that looks scary and has a higher ammo capacity than say whatever roy rogers was toting

that's it

Well I know they look scary and all. I get it. What is the legal limit that an AR can hold vs a handgun clip. Are they the same.

That's been my line of thinking. That handguns are easier to use, clips can be changed just as easy, and can fire at a similar rate.

They're easier to conceal but they are not easier to use/shoot. 90% of people will be wildly inaccurate with a handgun, including a lot of experienced shooters. Their clip capacity is more limited than a rifle's as well.

The standard off the shelf civilian version of the 2 weapons you listed can essentially be fired as fast as you can pull the trigger. Magazine capacity is a joke as they can be swapped out easily and the person telling you that you can tackle someone between mag changes is delusional.

The AR-15 is the current enemy (boogie man)and if they were to ever out right ban them they will go for hand guns next.

The Va Tech shooter killed 33 souls with a Glock 9mm, a Walther .22, and had a bunch of 10 and 15 round magazines.
