I'm just the opposite, Caple. It's all about freedom. If a woman doesn't want to have kids that's fine. However, I have known some extremely intelligent young ladies who told me they would never marry until they became a 'doctor, lawyer, etc.' Then, they hit 21 and 'the nesting urge' hit them upside the head and all they wanted was to stay home and knit booties.
This is a big problem in the medical field with women who get out of med school and never practice.

This isn’t a participation award.
This is an award for the best academic student chosen from around 1,000 kids by the County Administrator.

I think this is actually a 1940s example more than the caplewood troll.

Given that this is elementary school, I won’t belabor the lack of respect for our rules.
Post something like this about her in about 6-8 years, though....

I'm sorry but when I learned about stuff like '3rd grade graduation ceremony' years ago I knew we were raising a bunch of pussies. I hope his daughter is a huge success in her education and her life. But I fear for what our kids are being taught about 'everyone is a winner.'
All of these 3rd grade 6th grade graduations and just diminish the meaning of true milestones. A kids first graduation should be high school.

I’m very pissed that media hysteria and leftist pussification robbed her of this moment AND a couple months of her 1st grade year.
Honestly, how many times a week do you think about some award you got in grade school?
Nobody cares.

No one does, but you're probably not a parent so you wouldn't understand how it feels in the moment to lose what is probably a first big moment in academic achievement.

Cwill, I know I'm from a different time and environment. But this is the absolute truth. From 1st-12th grade (we didn't have kindergarten in those days) my parents NEVER said these words:
'How are you doing in school?'
'Do you have any homework tonight?'
'Can I see your report card?'
Their message was 'It's your business, handle it.'
I did.

I did.

Get over it. She has 11 more grades to go before it means shite.
Posted on 5/13/20 at 2:51 pm to Eli Goldfinger
I agree, I have only 1 child and because of all this shite I dont get to see my only child graduate in the traditional sense. He doesnt get to enjoy this huge accomplishment with friends he's gone to school with for 13 years.

when i went to school you got one ceremony only and that was graduation from high school
now they need to have an award ceremony ever time a kid takes a shite
you are supposed to pass your classes and advance to the next grade, its not anything that requires or even deserves recognition other then your parents taking you to chucky cheese if they want to make a big deal out of it

I didn’t realize this “anti shutdown” thread would attract so many a-hole curmudgeons.

Exactly this. My granddaughter, whom we have raised since she was 1 year old, lost her graduation ceremony, honors ceremony, senior prom, and last semester of her senior year. We had all looked forward to these things for 12 years and now? Poof, they are all gone. Yeah, I'm pi$$ed, too.

Unfortunately my youngest daughter is and it sucks. They missed out on prom, the senior walk and quite a many things. I tried to cheer her up by reminding her that her generation now holds the all time record for the length of senior skip day. She kinda chuckled
