NEW: We have breaking news from Texas tonight. Former President George H.W. Bush has been admitted to a hospital in Houston after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. -

Can't imagine he's got much fight left in him without Mrs Bush around.

Nah ... he'll follow her fairly quickly I would imagine. They were connected. 73 years of marriage will do that.

Doesn't sound like he's got much time left. I hope he repents of his sins and trusts in Christ's sacrifice.

Sadly its not uncommon to see one spouse go so soon after losing the other.

He will die in the next couple of days of a broken heart. It happens with elderly people who have spent a lifetime being together all the time. It’s actually a beautiful ending.

Former President George H.W. Bush was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital on Sunday morning after developing an infection that had spread to his blood, his spokesman said Monday evening.

Bush spokesman Jim McGrath revealed on twitter that Bush had been hospitalized.

"President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood," McGrath wrote Monday. "He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant."

I'm sure he saw things, did things, allowed things to happen he wishes he wouldn't have. But this is an intimate moment for him that will allow for that to pass. Godspeed, I can't imagine what 70+ years of marriage does with the passing of another.

Yeah. He wasn’t gonna last six months after she went but surprised it is happening this fast.

Not uncommon if the wife goes first ... however, if the husband goes first it's not uncommon for the wife to outlive him by years and years.

A lot has to do with age and stage and length of their marriage of course.

Considering how long they were together, not surprising. He won't last much longer.

He lived one helluva life. He deserves the rest.

Not unexpected, I just hope he is kept comfortable and doesn’t suffer. And that he gets to grab a few nurses’ asses.

Sepsis in the elderly isn’t uncommon, and it’s very treatable.
They’re likely trying to regulate his BP (probably low) and get him on the right antibiotic to kick it.
Methodist will take great care of him.
