Public polling is worthless at this point.
Privately commissioned polls are not very accurate anymore either, but they are better. They tell the candidate what they want to hear in order to get continued contracts, but they can help construct a campaign.
The advent of the "push poll" ruined everything.
Pollsters are becoming as unpopular as Lobbyist.
