How to properly triple down....Dick's Sporting Goods related

First, Dick's stopped selling firearms to 18-20 yr olds
Second, they not only said they'd stopping selling ARs but they destroyed their entire inventory of ARs AND the accessories.
Third, now they've hired 3 federal lobbyists to lobby for......wait for it........here it comes......gun control.

for a sporting good store, this is like Taco bell saying they dont want people who like tacos to buy their food.

I don’t think the SJW’s are doing their coffee and Tom’s shoe shopping at Dick’s. Bold strategy.

Cutting off one's nose to spite its face. What a dick.

They're going to have to come out with a line of skinny jeans to stay afloat.

I'd like to know what percent of Dick's income is from firearm sales. Seems they are more interested in making political statements if it's not affecting their pocketbook anyway. I never even knew Dick's sold firearms until it came up in the news about the AR business, nor would I have gone to a box store like that to look for firearms.

Next up, "Dick's Sporting Goods" changes their name to "Dick's Leg Warmers and T-Shirts".

So what do their financial statements say about this?
It's been several months since they started all this, have they been financially impacted due to it? We are all assuming, but there are numbers to prove this one way or another, so have we seen them yet?

That’s a bold plan, Cotton.
I figure Academy, Cabela’s, and Bass Pro will continue wiping the floor with them.

Given that Taco Bell’s offerings can only be vaguely considered food...

I’d guess that most of Dick’s business comes from team sports and a bunch of townie libs who buy Nike running gear for their half marathons.
I bet their hunting/outdoor business was comparatively small.

This could be meh, or really stupid, and just about anywhere in between.
If their objective with “gun control” is to limit sales nationwide to 18-20 yr olds (their store policy), its more meh.
But if they lobby for all out ban on semi autos, etc, they will be done.

Has the gun control lobby EVER stopped at anything? No they want total gun control

It’s about more than their outdoor sales.
Their obnoxious virtue signaling will actively drive off people who would otherwise shop there in favor of alternatives.

And it’ll draw in the virtue signalers from the other side.
I for one will not shop there again....for anything.

Dick's has always been anti-gun.

Given the breakdown in incomes of lefty SJWs, my guess is that their potential market will either be so poor they can’t buy much or so rich they shop at higher end retailers.
They can continue to be as stupid as they want. It just guarantees that I’ll shop at Academy or elsewhere for any sporting goods.

"Most of our customer base are gun owners, and in fact purchase a lot of guns and ammo from us, what do you want to do?"
"frick all of them, we're hiring lobbyists for gun control"
A business that is so deeply involved in politics they would prefer to go broke and out of business instead of selling guns.

quote:if you arent looking for anything special it is hard to beat a box store price. I get most of my none special items from Academy on big promotional deal weekends.
nor would I have gone to a box store like that to look for firearms.
This isnt about how much money they make on firearms. But the people who spend big money on sporting equipment are most likely pro gun.....So hearing all this they are going to lose their main customers.
