I think the point of all of this is that everyone knew Trump is a "back ally brawler". Desantis was the "all the good Trump policy's without out the "mean tweets""
Desantis decided to get in the mud with him and fling the poo, and lost in Trumps pit. Doesn't matter if Trump started it, he should have ignored it. That's a character flaw thinking he could have taken Trump on in his wheelhouse.
I like Desantis, but he made mistakes and has to deal with the consequences.

There was a period of time just following the midterms when Republican voters were just down and ready to start over.
It was a short lived period. It overinflated Desantis’ support. His actual core support was much lower. And obviously as people have come to know Desantis, he’s lost even more support.
