I'd never survive boot camp, but I wouldn't mind being an officer in the Air Force or something.

You're Grandmother could survive AF boot camp or OTS

Also they train a lot of Navy SEALs there.

The only team training that goes on there is for piloting the SDVs. Most SEAL training is at Coronado in California.

Go get a degree and sign up, we're short on pilots, even drone pilots.
.

The AF could have a full slate of uav pilots tomorrow if they’d drop the silly-arse officer and flight school requirements. Sensor operators are still hard to keep, though.

We could also have a full slate of mx officers if they'd drop the degree requirement, but they aren't.

Maybe we should also drop the high school /GED requirement for enlistees?

Where do we stop?

Total non sequitor. I said nothing about changing the requirements to be an officer, I said something about changing the requirements to pilot what is essentially a video game. An E6 can command a tank but he can’t use a joystick to control a uav? It’s a stupid requirement.

ok I can do better than that.

I’m too old now, but my oldest son is enlisting upon graduation from High School.
I signed the necessary paperwork yesterday giving him legal permission (he’s not 18 yet) to sign.
He goes to MEPS next week and leaves for basic (most likely) in July.

So while I’m not the one going, i’m proud as hell that my son has been steadfast in his desire to serve.
And that has not changed with the latest turn of events in the sandbox.

I’m 54 and am currently resisting multiple doctors’ advice for total knee replacements. I don’t think a Marine Amphibious Unit wants me.

Served 8 years in the Army. Glad to have served. But too old and too fat. I'll stick to my bourbon and talking to shite this time around.

We have the Navy dive school in Panama City Beach. It’s almost across the street from my house on North Lagoon. It’s pretty cool. They train the deep water divers there that wear those big brass helmets. Also they train a lot of Navy SEALs there.

Seals don't do the majority of their training there.

The same town but different dive center trains Technical and commercial divers as well. One of the best in the country. TDI training.
