I stopped a while back, but it was because they blade tenderize their meat which is gross to me.

And they do back medical care for their animals including vaccines….

I usually do a half cow and fill a freezer twice a year.

Which vaccines? Not all vaccines are horrible.

Tell me you have never worked cows without telling me you have never worked cows.

Well Tom, some of those vaccines are necessary for herd health and to have beef to bring to market. I mean you could always get your own cows and raise your own beef, but that's not as easy as it seems.

Feed, fuel, repairs, supplies.

Fuel isn’t 3x.

Feed I have no idea.

Why are repairs 3x?

My point is someone is screwing with the system if it costs you 3x what it did in 2020 to raise a cow.

Should I take the hit or adjust my prices accordingly?

Absolutely not, I’m not blaming you.

I’m just trying to get down to who is manipulating this structure because I suspect if the bad actors are removed it wouldn’t go back to what it was due to money printing and inflation, but it would get back to an affordable product for the consumer while allowing you and your family to make a reasonable profit.

I had read that the distribution and processing portion of the business was getting bought up so frankly I was expecting to hear they were holding everyone else hostage but I’m not an expert or have an agenda other than hoping to see small/midsize cattle ranches survive and thrive while middle class people can afford a steak.

Whole cow will always be cheaper but it takes freezer space and if you don't have that, find some friends to spilt a cow up with...
Exactly what I did. Stumbled across an Air Force vet who raises freezer beef. Got a side from him, and it's the best beef I've ever had outside of A5 Japanese Wagyu. There is no grocery store, that I know of, that sells beef at this quality.

Paid $7.50/pound. I've got another side on order for the Spring when he takes his next batch of cows to the processor.

“ I really think the war on GMO crops and vaccinated/ implanted livestock is blown way out of proportion”.

I have serious reservations about Roundup Ready corn and soybeans.Glyphosate is taken up by the roots and ends up in the corn and soybeans.
There is a pretty strong association between glyphosate and cancer.Another big issue is the effect of glyphosate on the intestinal flora. Many of the beneficial bacteria ,fungi, yeasts are harmed by glyphosate.Harmful bacteria such as clostridium are pretty much immune.
A healthy gut plays a big part in proper functioning of the immune system.
Autoimmune diseases are increasing at an alarming rate-over past 30 years celiac disease has increased by 500%,doubling every 15 years.Inflammatory bowel disease increased by 46% between 2006 and 2021.MS has increased by 30% berween 2013 and 2022.Almost all autoimmune disorders have increased since 1980.
Allergies have also been increasing at a large rate in recent years.

Vitamin D deficiency which is very common could also be playing a large part in immune dysfunction.
