This is why you have a 90 day pause. People or so impatient. Expect immediate results.

The passage of time has not been kind to us.

When I was my kids' age, we had no cell phones and the internet was a fledgling. Now, we have access to information and disinformation in the palm of our hands 24/7. I have no idea what the reported number of living tortoises on the Galapagos is, but I could find out in 5 seconds with a quick search.

It's all be design. A populace that has been programmed to receive instant gratification, tends to not see the long game or think about tomorrow. It's just me me me, now now now. Very easy to control people through the flow of both good and bad information.

People laugh at me when I say it, but I seriously would be thankful to GOD and the world would be better if we went back to landline phones, no internet and definitely no social media. That was a mere three'ish decades ago and the world for the most part actually made sense.

Can you cite some actual examples where that is happening?

“Can” implies a future potential action.

How can I cite future potential actions?

Your question makes no sense.

Concrete examples were VAT is applied discriminately to imports and not domestically produced products. Not hypotheticals. Actually happening.

You are breathtakingly stupid. The discussion is why Trump turned down zero tariffs. The answer is because they can use VAT and refused to agree not to.

They don’t need it now because they have tariffs you absolute moron.

I’m amazed you know how to start your business

What the frick? I can’t understand it for you, you dumbass. They don’t use VAT now because they have tariffs. The fact they refuse to agree to not use VAT if they give up tariffs is a pretty clear indicator of their plans to anyone that’s not a complete moron. Of course, you are a complete moron….so, I guess this conversation tracks.

If we sign an agreement with the European Union that is 40 countries right there.

Europe proposed zero tariffs each way.

Did the EU back off of the 25% retaliatory tariff that it implemented and set for an April 15 start date? They did that the morning that Trump announced the 90 day "pause", prior to him announcing that. There has been little coverage of that EU tariff since that I can find.

Prior to tariffs what were they adding "special
" VAT to?

Or is this just more fear porn from the cowering crowd.

What exactly have they refused to do? Let's be clear on that.

Wait….do you think the UK just started putting tariffs on US goods?

Then refusing to give up the right to VAT and tariffs is a pretty good indicator of their plans to anyone that is not a complete moron.

Of course, you are a complete moron. Keep doubling down…it’s always good for a laugh.

Btw: Most goods and services in the UK are currently subject to a VAT. Surely you were aware of that, right?

And if they remove tariffs? You want them to also agree to not subject US imports to VAT?

It's my understanding that VAT has been cited as a current discriminatory practice and one of the reasons for reciprocation. Am I wrong on that?

Japan will be the first to do a deal but China is threatening all of the other companies with economic/military/political action if any of them do a deal with the US. The sooner you understand that the US and China are in a global proxy war the better. We aren't going to be China's bitch anymore. Italy is also joining the tariff deal with the US as a FU to the European Union.

Because you believe VAT is currently discriminatory or because you fear it will be weaponized?

Because I think they will use it as a defacto tariff. If they want a zero tax trade deal…let’s do a zero tax trade deal.

I can think of a few legal hurdles for them on that score but let's keep going. If they exempt US imports from VAT, what then of their home-grown competitors to those imports?

Of course it isn't. Surely, you can reason why they don't want to do it.
