Let's assume the US-Mexico relationship falls apart; how long before China tries to step in and fill the void - and eventually attempt a military footprint in Mexico?

China would clearly only get into such a relationship with Mexico if it was much more favorable to China, but Mexico might just go for it as a 'eff ewe' to the US.

That would be fun. The wall would be even more important in that scenario.

China needs us just as badly as Mexico does, though.

There is no reason for this to happen. China is not a market for Mexican products. Mexico does not want cheap chinese products.

That may or may not be true, but Mexico has some bargaining chips simply by virtue of sharing a physical border with the US as the OP alluded to.

Of course they do. That's why this will get resolved. They don't have a lot of leverage, but they have a bit. In other words, rest easy and let them bluster for a moment. It will all come out in the wash.

No - it's short for primary manufacturer of electronic component parts including for that device of which you are currently using to visit this site.

Well that would be a good way to start an actual war China can't win. People see them as some kind of military peer, but even after Obama has eviscerated our military for 8 years we could still crush the Chinese military with ease, especially if they are trying to fight that far from home. They don't have the logistics to project power

You're living proof that the world is full of fools. In order to even get to the heart of your statement, you would have to start with the premise that you actually have a working knowledge of US/China trade relations which is undoubtedly false as evidenced by the statement itself.
