Me personally I have always felt somewhat separated from the RNC and DNC alike though trying to explain that would be TLDR.

I am a fiscal conservative and a social liberal but with libertarian tendencies toward a lot of social issues since by and large they need less legislation vs more. Legislating social issues tends to make problems where little if any were before.

I have voted Republican for as many national offices as Democratic. I can do this because I don't have any third rail issues. No single issue is important enough to me to sway my vote by itself. As often as not I find myself voting against someone more than voting for someone else, I feel like I have been voting for the lesser of two evils for most of my adult life.

My biggest concern currently is I feel both parties over the last roughly 20 years have been moving farther from center. I've never been a president or party dick rider and find it rather childish on the level of Beavis and Butthead. Neither the far right nor far left speak for me.

If random people on the internet think I am a cuck or beta I really don't care I would be surprised if anyone that knows me personally thinks that. I have plenty of reasons not toe the party line for the DNC or RNC and I doubt few people align 100%, but I do get a lot of people have a third rail issue like say abortion that forces a singular alignment.

I'd love to hear how you feel republicans have moved further from center (hint: studies on the matter indicate the opposite).

It's more likely you assign self worth from centering yourself between the two parties when in reality that position is making you lean left radical.

I was predicting what today's Democratic party would look like 20 years ago. And I don't mean sort of vaguely predicting. If you could go back in time and listen to me 20 years ago you would think I'd been here

And the reason is that this was a completely natural progression from where they were. It Not only was likely to happen it was a near certainty that it had to happen. What is happening is a product of the core ideology the party is built upon

I know this is challenging to accept if one is still somewhat attached to the core ideology of liberalism from 20 years ago. And of course I don't expect you to just take some Anonymous guy on the internets word on it

But it just is. And while I think this board is kind of fun it's really not a great place to digest and seriously consider points of view outside of our own. I would simply highly encourage you to begin your own critique not only of where the Democratic party is now but if how it got here

I believe if you do that you might realize that some of the innocuous basic concepts that you still look fondly upon are really the base and logical progenitors of what you see today

People get pushed to extremes here, just the nature of this type forum.

You guys really have to realize that this actually has little to do with Obama.

Everything you are seeing from the liberals today was COMPLETELY predictable 2-3 decades ago and I DID predict it.

Liberalism for my entire adult life has centered on the idea that opposition to their prescriptions simply HAD to be motivated by some form of evil. There has never been a time in my adult life where the argument against conservatives hasn't operated under assumptions that conservatives simply don't care about the problems or worse, simply dislike the people.

If liberals proposed something and you opposed it, it could NEVER be because you simply thought it was bad policy. It could NEVER be because you might actually think their idea made matters worse. Nope. You simply hated "group X" and that's why you wouldn't let them help those people.

It was a completely logical conclusion that eventually, you'd have liberals openly talking about the White Male and whites in general in much the same manner as the Nazis talked about the Jews. There simply was no other landing place.

You can't tell everyone in your party that the reason they aren't getting what they want is because the other side is EVIL and expect that your party won't start to believe it and act accordingly.

I was saying twenty fricking years ago, "um, if these people REALLY think we're Nazis, eventually, they're going to act in the way a reasonable person opposing Nazis would act".

The Dem party today hasn't left anyone. It's the exact same party it was 30 years ago. It's just more forthright about it.

I am not going to argue with someone I don't know over something I don't see as empirical unless I am just in the mood. I could care less about a label as I know where I stand on every issue.

I see you think it is cute to demean someone you don't know based on assigning self-worth but it is just childish, you don't know enough about me to begin to say that. The center, as well as every other label, is amorphous but if I am to self-assign that is where I am at. I don't know any other way to describe it when I agree with the right as often as the left. It gets stickier when I go a step further and try to assign importance to each issue but it still leaves me in what I consider the middle. I still have to make binary choices at election time but it has never been cut and dried for me. I see it as contemplative others may see it as wishy-washy.
