How did America arrive at the precipice of ruination?

Look, I believe Trump has delayed the plunge into the Prog/Dim socialist abyss but unless we all get our azzes to work these leftists are gonna take this country down.
How or why did we allow these leftists to influence every critical area of our society? From academia to the highest levels of government the leftists have made great strides in wiping out the principles the founders put forth to make this country great.
Here’s two fricks that should irritate ya to no end. How did these slimy fricks find their way into the upper echelons of our government? This should anger and embarrass any decent American. A small excerpt from a Zero Hedge article.....,
Commie Comey also made millions working and lobbying for Lockheed Martin....I cant share anymore trash on these two Swamp Skunks because I’m just about ready to smash my damn iPhone.
