Damn, I wish I could find a house to rent for $1900, that would rock.

I pay $1500 a month on a mortgage. It's $500-700 more than I expected to pay entering the market; however, the real estate market went insane in 2022 while we were saving up to finally buy down here, and our rent increased by 40% from one lease to the next. We were pretty well forced to jump in early.

Now with all of your bitching....float the idea of raising the minimum wage and you'll get down voted to oblivion.

If you have a very good paying job and can barely pay your bills, you don't know how to manage your money, and you are the problem.

Personal accountability goes a long way in resolving issues like that.

Hey, a-hole, I have a job. I have a house, I have a car, I have lots of savings. I did right, but I also know how absolutely difficult it is and I’m tired of old bastards saying “oh well just do more” when you were at my age, you could afford a home working at McDonald’s or at sears. I know because that’s what my folks did. They worked at the mall and afforded a home and raised kids on that dime. We still ate well, went on vacations, etc.

Times are way different now you frickhead.

Then why are you blaming other people and whining, while being successful?

shite, we paid $1,850 in 1999 for our mortgage. shite is expensive up here.

The only thing I can buy under 500k today is a condo. A fricking studio rents for over $1600 today.

So if you do right, you'll have no issues.

If you don't do right, you'll have issues.

That dude either doesn't know how to manage his money or he has no clue what a "very good paying job" actually is.

I work at a paper mill in maintenance so we make more than 90% of the rest of the mill. I do work as much over time as I can that's how we make it, but sometimes they won't let us work over 40 hrs.

I don't think you guys realize what it takes to raise a family of 5, pay a house note, insurance, utilities, groceries, gas and all the other expenses that come up. A damn washing machine now costs $500, water heater is $800 etc.

Because I’m tired of boomers saying millennials are lazy and entitled. Times are way different but they are just cold and not willing to take responsibility for the government fricking over the little man with policies they elected to put in place.

fricking old people man. So head off to bed, we will do the heavy lifting to get this country back on the right track while you pissed it away for my generation. Thanks for nothing.

Well I'm doing that, so I think I do.

I'll repeat, if you truly have a "very good paying job" you should not be struggling to pay your bills. If you are, it's 100% your fault.

Either you can't manage your money correctly or you don't actually have a "very good paying job"

How are they owning me? By calling them out for the obvious problems that were created by their generation? I persevered but damn man, it was a lot easier to do so when they were my age and the reason it’s tougher is precisely what they put in place by voting for absolute shite heels.

If youre so successful, why the angst?

They are getting to you. You let them piss you off to no end while being "successful."

It smells a bit dishonest.

if you’re gonna go to college, you’ll need to secure the money for most of it.

The average cost of public university tuition is at least $10k/year. A two-year college program costs about $7k-$10k a year. How do you think the average 18-22 year old is going to come up with that kind of money?

Some of the "boomer" ideology regarding hard work and savings is certainly valid, but I don't think a lot of people know how much things have exponentially changed for the worse in terms of costs over the past 15 years.

They used to come up here and work for the summer. Now old people and foreigners do that work.

J-1 students go home with 8-10k to their home shithole countries and live on it all year long.

Young Americans do have a work ethic issue. Thats isnt even debatable.

Because I have friends who are going through this. I’m more upset for them. It’s not fun to see your friends struggle when they are working their butts off.
