So is that living beyond my means or are prices outrageous
Well, let's find out. How much did your house cost and what is your mortgage? How much did your truck cost and what is the payment?
What expenses do you have that you haven't mentioned? How much do you spend on hunting and fishing? How many guns do you have and what did they cost? What's the most expensive fishing rod you own?
The answer to your question—without knowing any of those things—is "probably."
And the reason I say that is that your quoted sentence above betrays a fundamental misunderstanding about how personal economics works. You've posed a false dilemma.
Prices being "outrageous" and you living beyond your means are not mutually exclusive dichotomies. In fact, they are directly related. The higher prices are, the more one must do without to live within one's means.
Embedded in your outrage is the premise that you are entitled to a house, a truck, and to hunt and fish as a hobby. This isn't true. No one is entitled to anything like that. So if trucks are too expensive, you don't buy one. Not if you want to live within your means.
That's actually how it works, and it's the biggest difference between people your age and people my age and older. If it's too expensive now you younger people buy it anyway and then complain that it's someone else's fault that it costs too much. You've been taught to do that by the media.
We just didn't buy it if it was too expensive.
And yes, that includes houses and new vehicles. Oh, and college educations.
The people on here acting like the free market is responsible for prices being "outrageous" and posting idiotic distortions of people's posts about formica countertops were absent the day they taught how if too few people buy a product at a certain prices, the price comes down on that product so that more people will buy it.
They may just not teach basic economics anymore. That wouldn't surprise me.
Now I think they teach that everyone is entitled to everything they want and if you can't have it that means there is systemic racism or youthism or some kind of "ism" responsible for it, so the taxpayers should buy it for you.

Not half as stupid as the posters claiming they wanted Trump to win so they voted for Kanye West in an effort to make that happen.

They're going where they can get jobs.
That may be true of some of them with specialized careers, but as lousy as the labor market is I don't believe that the vast majority can't get work in places with decent cost of living ratios.
Sorry, don't buy it.
And the ones in specialized careers should also be making enough money with their specialized skills sets that they should be able to afford it, and if not, they should have made a better career choice.

Sure, go ahead.
Unless that explanation includes how you can help one person win by voting for another person, however, all it's going to prove is that you're full of shite.

Costs and wage disparity weren’t what they are today.

And neither were interest rates.
Where's my explanation of the electoral college, btw?

The winner of a state’s popular vote gets all of that state’s electoral votes.

Costs for what?
Do you know what a cell phone cost in inflation-adjusted dollars in 1985? A whole hell of a lot more than it costs now.
In 1980, washing machines went for almost $800 on average in adjusted dollars. Now you can get a comparable model for $500.
A big screen t.v. cost almost $1,200 in 1980 in adjusted dollars. Today you can get a comparable one for $150.
Just about anything that is dependent on technology is cheaper now, or it's close to the same price but with a lot more features.
For example, in adjusted dollars a 1985 Honda Accord cost $21,000 for a base model. Today it costs $24,000 for a base model. More expensive today, but only by 12%. Certainly not the difference in being able "to live" or not.
Groceries aren't even that much more expensive if you take the time to actually find out what they used to cost and adjust it for inflation.
Again, you fail to support the victimhood narrative you so desperately seek to support.

So that means that when you voted for Kanye West that helped Trump get the electoral votes?
BTW, that's not even necessarily true any more. Depends on the state.

I can want Trump to win over Biden and still use my vote to show support for Kanye when I knew Arkansas was going for Trump. Both things can be true at the same time. Not that hard to understand.

But regarding "Formica Counters," you really don't have a clue as to how your predecessors lived or what they considered acceptable in exchange for frugality.

Sure you can. The question given your average post content would be "did you?"

And interest rates are a lot lower. Still, even now. Shall I post an article detailing how much it adds to a mortgage when your interest rate is 11.5%?
So as much as you love the clickbait Reader's Digest depth articles, that is NOT why millennials can't afford housing.
There are significantly more factors than that.
