First. Harris County Judge Hidalgo (She is like the Mayor of a County - Harris is the county that the city of Houston is in...) is going to announce that all people above the age of 10 must wear a mask when outside the home. This is for the next 30 days (Starting on Monday)

Here is the response from the Houston Police Officers Union.

Violating the mask rules is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or a maximum of 180 days in jail. Harris County law enforcement officers, including the fire marshal and constables, will be responsible for ensuring residents and businesses comply. The unions representing officers from the Houston Police Department and Harris County police agencies, however, said their members are disinclined to do so.

quote:
“The citizens of Harris County are working hard together through this pandemic and do not need the added stress and fear of being fined or arrested for failing to wear a mask/face covering they may not have,” Harris County Deputies Organization President David Cuevas said in a statement.

Houston Police Officers Union President Joe Gamaldi, a frequent critic of Hidalgo’s approach to criminal justice, called the order idiotic and said the “draconian” measure would erode bonds between officers and the community.

In a statement, Gamaldi said the union has reached out to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office seeking an opinion on the legality of imposing a criminal penalty or fine on someone for not wearing a face mask.

frick Hidalgo

Honestly she is a 25 year old ignorant child. First she wants to empty the jails of criminals to protect them then turn around and put people in jail for not wearing a mask.

I'm not sure this count could get any dumber.

So if a judge issues an edict and law enforcement refuses to enforce it, is it valid?

Thanks for the link...seems like 35% may not be accurate. That would be insane.

It is clear the so-called leader of Harris County lacks any critical thinking skills, but let me assure the public, our officers do. The last thing any of us needs to do is kick our community while they are down.

A 29 year old elected as county judge 5 years out of college without even been to law school.
