House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans voted Monday night to strip Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, of all of committee assignments days after he openly wondered when "white supremacist" and "white nationalism" became offensive terms.

The Iowa Republican is slated to lose his post on the House Judiciary Committee, including his expected spot as the top Republican on the subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice. He was also st to lose his spot on the House Agriculture Commtitee, a key position given the importance of farming to his home state, and the Small Business Committee.

He's a jackass and deserving of the rebuke.

No this hurts the cause of free speech. Not saying I agree with him but the right to say things others disagree with is the definition of free speech.

Will Dems strip assignments and call for resignation of their anti-semite caucus?

Once again, GOP slits its wrist hoping for validation and praise from its enemies.

Once again, it will go unrewarded.

This has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

So what is wrong with being a “nationalist?”

Doesn’t that mean you love and cherish our country?

I don’t get it?

Freedom of speech doesn't guarantee freedom from consequence. Say stupid shite as a representative of a collective group and expect punishment.

"How did white Supremacist become offensive?"

Come on.

I’m fine with Steve King seeing the consequences of his actions. I don’t support them.

When does Elizabeth Warren feel the heat for pretending to be a Native American?

Do all of you down voters really not see the problem with a congressman saying "Herp, derp, what's wrong with white supremacy?" How far would King have to go before you stop defending this jackass?
