I'd be surprised if most even know what you're talking about.

I'll address it then. One does not need to be envious of DC incomes to realize they're a bad idea. I think a 20 dollar minimum wage is a bad idea and I have no reason to be envious because it's a fraction of my current wages.

And that's just base pay. What's locality pay up there?

Anyone that makes $5000/check and lives check to check is not good with money.

Pay frequency and cost of living should be considered. But assuming biweekly that's really good money.

TSA losers don't make that type of coin though

A DC income proved to be a great idea for me and my bank account.

It may or may not be a problem for someone else living somewhere else, but I'm not trying to pursue your happiness. That's your job.

The area hardest hit is DC and NOVA. Most federal employees here probably fall in the GS-12 to GS-14 pay bands (non-supervisory civilian managers) which includes scientists, engineers and program managers with no supervisory responsibilities. Those make between 81k (low end, recently hired into that pay band) to $129k (Step 5).

If they lead a section as a GS-15, they make $134-152k. This is before the Senior Executive Service civilians which lead hundreds and would be outliers for this example.

In that regard, it's hard to beat San Antonio right now.

I don't know any government employee making that kind of money (10k a month) and it's not even close.

Doosh, if you are enlisted in DC, you know many. All of the GS-14s and GS-15s make that at your base. If you are enlisted in the Pentagon, a huge percentage, due to the work being done there, are rated at that level and higher.

My wife is a wildlife biologist with a masters degree and brings home around $800/week. She's not exactly getting rich.

That's exactly what is wrong.

These people get voted in making regular money. When they leave government they are millionaires.

Wonder why?

Because once you get elected to office, your husband magically becomes a real estate genius knowing exactly when and wear to buy property and your net worth quickly rockets in to the tens of millions, and now you have a net worth well north of 100 million.

aka, the Pelosi Method.

I don't disagree and it happens on both sides.
