In pay. Haven’t they only missed one pay check? In the same story they interview a lady who says” we’re coming up on our 2nd missed pay check.
The average furloughed employee makes 5k each pay check?!
Shutttt it the frickkkkkkkkk down

Around DC they do.

They said the average.
This was nationwide.
This was nationwide.

Yes. Most direct deposit was this past Monday for the first check that didn’t happen.
This shouldn’t surprise you. Before they missed a single pay check CNN was running stories on Fed employees in financial hardship from Trump.
How does that even happen when they have t missed a check????
Manufactured crises.

And outside of DC, the average pay is much, much lower.
Which tells you how much the government leeches inside the beltway are making to skew the average that high.

If you can't beat em, join em. That's what I did and my retirement is fully funded.
Seriously - if you're really jealous of DC incomes, why not quit complaining and just come over here and work for that income?

We should all work for the government.

Because after several years of working for government employees and having them working for me while in uniform, I have more integrity than that.
I stand by my principles as a libertarian.
Besides, I make much, much more on the civilian side with what I do. With few exceptions, my government counterparts are incompetent idiots.

I may be wrong, but there was a time when government employees took jobs at much lower pay rates than could be had in the private sector.
They were rewarded with very nice benefit packages including retirement.
Now the average federal employee income is higher than the average private sector income.
The federal employees still enjoy the benefit packages including retirement.
Also impossible to be fired.
Moral of the story....
Become a federal employee or a college professor.

Because our country can't sustain everyone being overpaid with public funds?

Nobody is jealous of DC incomes.(or rent)
People are curious though, how such insignificant positions pay so well.

I have no problems with this for people who are continuing to work. The ones that aren't working should have to burn PTO or get nothing.

Step 1: Join public employee union.
Step 2: Pay dues.
Step 3: Dues are used to donate to politicians.
Step 4: Politician is elected and increases pay for public employees.
Step 5: Go to Step 2

Which ones are insignificant?
Do y'all understand it will cost us more money to get rid of a lot of these positions? It isn't as simple as cutting jobs.
Still, I'm cool with it because I'll make fricking bank if it happens.

I don't know any government employee making that kind of money (10k a month) and it's not even close. I make more than most of my friends here in DC (we're all around age 30) and I'm in enlisted. Granted the BAH is insane here because of high housing costs, but 10k a month would only be the tippy top of the pay scale, even here.

It is if you're talking cutting program mandates.

That doesn't address my question.
I asked why anyone envious of DC incomes doesn't move here.

GS15. And that's not even counting the metric arse-ton of SESs inside the beltway.
