Really, it isn't the "eating" that is the issue. It is the lack of exercise. We don't move around as much as we used to.

Exactly. Junk food was around long before widespread obesity. Only differences were (1) it was a treat and not something we ate on a regular basis, and (2) kids engaged in a lot more physical activity in the past.

When I was younger, we had a lock on the television cabinet.

In the summer, we got put outside in the morning, came home for lunch, and couldn't come back in until dinner. Now that's child abuse.

And guess what....none of us are overweight.

I do think cheap processed food plays a big role as well.

It probably would be child abuse today. They would call it parental neglect.

The rally was an awakening for Terra Slack, a 52-year-old New Orleans native who said it marked the first time in her life she felt called to political action. “It’s so important that we help our society move out of the Stone Age and stop subjugating women and people with different lifestyles.”

I'd suggest this woman watch an episode from the first season of "Mad Men". It may give her an appreciation of just how far our society has come re: it's treatment of women in the past 50 or so years.

I want people to eat healthier. I want people live until they are 100. I want to see fat people a thing if the past.

What happened to referring to yourself in the third person?

A throng of almost 6 women

throng (thrông, thrng)
n.
1. A large group of people gathered or crowded closely together; a multitude. See Synonyms at crowd1.
2. A large group of things; a host.
v. thronged, throng·ing, throngs
v.tr.
1. To crowd into; fill: commuters thronging the subway platform.
2. To press in on.

This begs the questions: When does more than 1 person become a throng? When does a pond become a lake? When does a stream become a river? I think about these things often.
