Ignoring for a second that the federal government should have nothing to do with education, I have no problem with the First Lady's mission to make school lunches healthier.

I have no idea how its "overreach" for the federal government to place conditions on what kinds of foods may be bought to feed children with our taxes.
Do you feel the same way concerning EBT usage?

Did your parents never tell you no?

The word "no" worked well in our household, or are Democrats considering that "child abuse" nowadays?

Right - that's why kids are getting fatter - its the parents that are different - not the environment they are raising kids in.

That is also a very good point.

If people want the food tax dollars are spent on to be controlled, should we not address it here as well?

I think EBT usage should be very highly regulated. Similar to WIC.

Then we just abused our youngest about 8 separate times in Trader Joe's.

I would probably agree with that, but it is more than just the parents.

Really, it isn't the "eating" that is the issue. It is the lack of exercise. We don't move around as much as we used to.

And as for the environment, they didn't have ads directed at kids in the past?

The environment is different because of the parents.

The right to equal treatment in the workplace regardless of their sex.

Everyone else has co-pays and deductibles on their prescriptions, pays more for Tier 2 and 3 drugs than for Tier 1. They also don't have the full range of options covered by their plan.

So in the interest of equal treatment, I assume you believe there should be copays on contraception too, right?

I was told No a helluva lot as a child.

But my parents grocery carts weren't filled with fanta, chips, hot pockets, those little mug drinks, and TV dinners.

They should be forced to buy food that has to be cooked when using our tax dollars to pay for it. Just like WIC. If they're getting the shite for free, make them but healthy.

And I saw a report on the news earlier this week that obesity in children is being linked to the mothers diet while they are pregnant and genetics. I'm on my phone and I'm not looking for it, but it was on WBRZ when I was getting ready for work one morning last week.

This.

My parents made us play in the yard. We weren't allowed to sit on our asses and play video games and watch TV all day.

I think parenting is much different. There are no more consequences for irresponsibility.

I never said this.

But combine this with the spoiling culture that parents now believe in along with lack of exercise and it results in what we are seeing now.
