Is it the vegetables that they oppose or is it the government over reaching.

Huh?

That's a "closely held" company?

Are you sure?

That's exactly it. They whine about the obesity epidemic but if anyone actually tries to do something they call it "government overreach"

Because its "overreach" for the government to decide what kinds of foods are bought with taxpayer dollars to feed children. We should just let the kids decide. Set up a bunch of coke and candy machines, and then when they are all obese 20 years from now - we can ridicule them for it.

They don't get it.

Are you talking about the First Ladies efforts? Commendable, but largely futile. Programs like that will not fix this country's obesity problem.

You have to address the issues in brazen, extreme ways.

They need to address the issue the same way that they addressed the issue of people smoking.

Scare the crap out of them.

Dumb for them to publicly condemn such acts, if that is the case.

Well, it is at least politically dumb.

Overall, they are feel good measures that don't really fix anything.

You're exactly correct. I have no idea how its "overreach" for the federal government to place conditions on what kinds of foods may be bought to feed children with our taxes. It just seems like common sense to me, actually. If a school doesn't like it and would prefer to stuff their children full of donuts and pizza so they can laugh at them for being overweight later on - they can turn down the subsidies.

If you believe it was the school lunches causing this issue, you are grossly mistaken.

Making school lunches healthier will not fix the obesity issue. It is a societal mindset that has to be addressed.

What about the food being bought for them with our taxes, by their parents with their EBT cards?

Limit what they can buy with that. Don't come at me with the school lunch bullshite.

You sure are good at deflecting, aren't you? You never make a valid point.

I'm actually inclined to agree with you here. Michelle Obama encouraging healthier school lunches is rather harmless, which can't be said about the implications of a generation of overweight, unhealthy, etc youth

What?
Like food stamps? People on food stamps should only be allowed to buy meat, beans, eggs, cheese, fresh vegetables, milk, flour, sugar, cereal, oil, and peanut butter. And in limited amounts.

I don't disagree with that.

School lunches aren't going to solve the obesity issue.

Right scruff because FOOD doesn't cause you to gain weight - its MINDSET that causes it. If people just stopped being so fricking commie liberal they would lose weight. you probably really believe that.

So it's a neutral, feel good program, as I stated.

I want people to eat healthier. I want people live until they are 100. I want to see fat people a thing if the past.

If you want that, you have to start addressing it like we did cigarettes. Ad campaigns showing the diseases that it causes, shock tactics, etc.

It is the only way we will fix this, and trust me, you'll want to fix this if we ever get to a single payer system.

Healthy eating starts and ends at home. What good does it do to feed kids lettuce and tofu if they are going home and eating a bag of hot cheetos? Maybe healthy eating should be forced on the low income welfare recipients since they are the ones who are most likely to be obese.

That post lacked effort. You can do much better, Tuba. Keep practicing.

Until then, stick to trolling others. It won't work on me.

And food does cause people to gain weight, but one meal at school does not address the lack of exercise after school or the food they eat at home.

Use that brain of yours, Tuba. You'll figure it out.

Exactly.

Instead of catering junk food ads to kids, make it illegal. Start showing commercials with 500 pound people.....this is the result of your bad choices.
