Are we talking cannons or muskets?

Because one came hundreds of years after the other- in Europe the first hand hand held firearms appeared in 1364, and the first cannons in the early 1300s, in China it was even earlier in the 1100s.

I doubt accurate stats appear before then .

Actually in some countries only the noblesse were entitled to wear swords.

In his podcasts about the Celtic genocide, Carlin talks about an instance in which Caesar had a Gallic tribe voluntarily disarm and submit to Roman rule. The result was that the Germanic tribes to the north, who had not disarmed, went nuts on the Gallic tribe as soon as the Romans turned their attention to something else.
