I would think most NFL franchises would just get rid of the cheerleaders before paying them any more money. I highly doubt the average fan cares if their team has cheerleaders or not.

When I hear about the pay gap in corporate america I always wonder why no one ever discusses the pay gap between professional athletes and the lower level contributors. Probably because it doesn't get as much traction in the minds of the sheep.

I went to TCU and our TCU Showgirls Dance team is pretty much a farm system for Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. My sisters were showgirls but didn't bother with the Cowboys but a lot of their friends did. They are all in it for the attention and post about 50-100 photos on Facebook/Instagram per day of them in their Cowboys outfits or doing some Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader event. It's all about the attention

One of our neighbors was a Cowboys cheerleader back in the mid 90`s. At the time, she was finishing her degree in communications at University of North Texas. She met her now husband at a Cowboys event. He is a senior VP at Frito Lay and she is a Marketing Exec. for the Dallas Stars.
These cheerleaders get exposed to high rollers and job opportunities to further their careers. Poor little things.

When I worked in Northern Virginia, our receptionist was a Redskinette. They basically do it for free and most are cleat chasers looking for the payday.
If they don't like the conditions and pay then don't do it.

Exactly... they are golddiggers and that exposure to the big shots and high rollers means they can easily marry into money if they want to. Again its for the attention.

This is very true. The massive amounts of make up and done up hair makes them look great while performing and during events and photo sessions.
The dance studio my 3 girls attend is owned by a former Falcons cheerleader. She is 26 and ugly as heck in the face. Looks like a witch. But that girl can dance and quickly memorize routines with the best. And her physique is exceptional as well.
On a side note. I dated a Falcon cheerleader 23 years ago. She was fine all around. She dumped me soon after she made the team and started dating former wrestler Scott Stiner.

Local girl used to be with the Sea Gals. She would sell calenders at lounges and clubs during special promotions to raise funds.

Some might like to blow off the complaints as “just sports,” or “just part of the game,” but it’s more than that. As Jan Boxill, from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, writes, sports are like our moral compass. Sure, they’re aspirational and heroic quests. Yet, they’re also exaggerated “microcosm[s] of society” and an active reflection of our society’s values, [in]tolerances and order
95% of fans could give a shite if there were no cheerleaders. Let them quit. The ball boys are more valuable to the game than these broads.

It's because these sorts of positions are not really analogous to "corporate America" AT ALL.
Every NFL team tomorrow could field a decent enough cheerleader squad with purely volunteer cheerleaders.
A typical labor supply/demand curve really doesn't exist for these types of "positions". The whole thing is silly, to act like the NFL is "treating" these folks any sort of way.
