Here's hoping Chevron deference dies today.

It's not going to happen - because Roberts is almost certainly writing the opinion - but here's hoping.

I think if it was going the other way, it would’ve already been decided and not saved for last. I think they’re throwing down a BOOM and rolling out. Good guys win today

Chevron going away would be awesome, but willing to settle for reining in these 3 letter agencies regulations that pretend to be laws.

Roberts - Blind squirrel something something. here's hoping

If it were to happen, I don't think everyone grasps what a monumental two weeks this has been. It will get its own chapter in future history books.

From my understanding..The ability for alphabet bureaus to interpret policy however they wish based on ambiguous language.

Surely they can't kill our gun restrictions, end abortions in red states, and gut the federal administrative state in one term??!!

Congress would actually have to legislate. Instead of saying "EPA, fix pollution," they'll have to specify exactly what that means instead of leaving it to bureaucrats to interpret. This is the broad, simplified explanation.

I thought I had read that a positive Chevron ruling would actually force Congress to work together on most things instead of delegating issues to the 3 letter agencies (that have no business governing anything, especially since they're appointed and not elected).

But I'm still waiting on someone to explain it to me like I take my whole family to eat at Popeye's after every Sunday service.

I'll give it a try to get to the basics. Chevron deference is when a court can not use their interpretation of a statute and must use the position stated by the administrative agency. Effectively saying that an agency can create rules that courts must follow, giving agencies the ability to craft de facto legislation.

Despite recent rulings, I have zero faith in this court to do the right thing in this case.

Thanks for that!

Think I pretty much had the gist of it but just hadn't seen it summarized. This would definitely be a YUUUUUGE win for the Constitution.
