Not really. You are taught you can still be punished for things like war crimes even if you are just following orders.

I'm a bit confused by the OP. I really don't see how anyone could be confused here. I mean people might could be encouraged to disobey a lawful order, but the odds of something being an unlawful order is just basically none.

And if you are just a grunt and you disobey an order, you'll be punished for it.

Easy judge Boasberg rules the military can't do something.

Drumpf says do it anyway.

Douchebag Dems come a running yowling about illegal orders.

Lawsuits fly.

Enlisted dudes caught in the middle

Douchebags cheer.

All Trump had to do is agree with their statements, and put it back in their lap. He would have been in control of the narrative, and Dems would have to out themselves if they pushed further.

But of course, he's got to go into hysterics and lose the high ground.

I guess.

Wouldn't confuse me because judges aren't in the chain of command and such things certainly don't fall under any type of unlawful order I was taught about.

Unlawful order = kill that civilian over there.

Not obeying an order because some judge said something rather than following the chain of command isn't even something I've even remotely considered.

For civilian crimes. I'm no lawyer or anything, but I can't imagine a legal battle within the federal government is going to trigger that.

I can only say I don't think what's an unlawful order is confusing. You follow the chain of command which has the president at the top, and unlawful orders are things like raping, killing, robbing people etc.

Is “sedition is punishable by death” a problem statement or just a very obvious one?
Well, it's not an obvious one because it isn't true, so unless you have a third option, you've answered that yourself.

quote:

18 U.S.C. § 2384 — Seditious Conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States,

conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States,

or to levy war against them,

or to oppose by force the authority thereof,

or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States,

or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof,

they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Anybody whose ever been in the Military knows Unlawful Orders , the UCMJ, Department Heads masquerading as "Legal Officers", Brasses interpretation of an Unlawful Order, and the odds of ever seeing a Judicial Process is crossing a Ouiji Board, a Star Chamber, and a Voodoo Doll.

Do I believe there should be prosecutions? Yes, and if found guilty they should hang.

Do I believe there will be prosecutions? No. The system is broken, possibly beyond repair.

What the Seditious Six have done is to plant the seed. With every order, they are now going to think- “is this lawful?” “Am I going to get prosecuted for executing this order when the Dems get back into power?”

Hmmm… pretty much everyone I know that WAs an active member of the military stated they were taught to not follow unlawful orders while in boot camp.
