He’ll snap some pictures of some of the stuff happening and post it and give us a play by play lol. At least I can live vicariously through you then.

Gonna see what I can do for sure. A little worried about my cell phone reception there. Seems like it might be getting a little sketchy now.

It’s like a Jay Johnson Regional Rain Delay. No rain barely cloudy.

From Capital Weather 10 min ago

The situation: A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the DC region until 10 p.m. Scattered storms still moving through parts of the area have largely avoided near and inside the Beltway thus far. Any given location still has a reasonable chance to see a shower or storm this evening, but some spots could get missed. The strongest storms capable of damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning should wane by around 9 p.m., but some showers and a few weaker storms could linger later.

Just think. All the while, through heat, rain and lightning, sentinels have been guarding the tomb of the unknowns in full dress blues. Are those uniforms made of wool? Hats off to those guys.

Even better, we went to war and kicked the British out without A/C or internet or phones or fast food or ice. Beer was preferred drink because it killed the contaminated water when making. All drinks were warm too.

Todays folks are pretty spoiled

Didn’t know that. I always associated rum/grog with the guys in the tricorn hats. Even those who fought on land.

The thousands already in attendance are being told to seek shelter.

The Secret Service announced that “dangerous storms” caused security screening on the National Mall to be closed, urging people to find shelter immediately.

“The safety of our guests, performers, and staff is our top priority. Due to approaching severe storms, Freedom 250, United States Secret Service, United States Park Police, National Park Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and all public safety partners are asking all guests to evacuate event grounds and seek temporary shelter in a nearby building,” Freedom 250 Spokesperson Danielle Alvarez said in a statement.

“Available shelter locations include the Department of Commerce, Department of Education, Department of Agriculture, Internal Revenue Service, VOA Building, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, the African American Museum, and the Ronald Reagan Building. Please remain calm, follow the directions of law enforcement and event staff, and stay tuned to Freedom 250’s official channels for updates.”

Alvarez added, “Freedom 250 will share updates on programming and doors reopening — please stay close to our official channels for updates.”

During the evacuation, attendees were seen singing America’s National Anthem and remaining in the area.

Hope ya have a great time. I'm only 21 miles north but can't make it there tonight. Hopefully the storm that blew through the area half an hour ago is the last of it.

Yup, our country was founded by drunkards lol. But its true about beer as popular drink over water since it was safer. My guess is it didn’t buzz them like now due to how it was made and drinking it so often. I believe a lot if our forefathers got their independence ideas in taverns. We can thank beer for America not being ruled by Brits.
