What makes it seem that way to you? Is there a poll that shows fewer Americans are worried about the open border today than they were 2 years ago?

IMHO most of the US electorate have finally accepted that we will always have Open Borders.

The military should protect the US border. Dims won't allow it though, which is ridiculous.
