I'm assuming the city of Chicago realized just how much of a shitstorm they would be under had they not done the common sense thing and filed hate crime charges.
Especially in the light of Trump's election, they realize that - across the nation - the 8-year-long liberal PC circle-jerk is over.

Is this the first time the hate crime law was used to prosecute black on white crime? Just wondering. If there were ever a case for it, this would be it.
