Desantis threatens to cut off their salary and The Feds promise to step in and pay them.

So lets say they reissue the mandate and Desantis cuts off paychecks. Then the feds start paying them

At which point, does Desantis fire them?

Moment of truth for Desantis. We shall soon see if he is everything his supporters say he is

If he doesn't fire them, he is a pretender.

Public school cannot be saved. Parents need to withdraw their kids if they care about them that’s what needs to be done. These people have made up their minds that they’re communists. They’re gonna force you wear masks and teach CRT and drag queen storytime. Vote with your feet and homeschool. And then send the teachers and their unions to prison

So we just ignore everything else he’s done and call him a pretender if he doesn’t fire all the teachers in his state that he doesn’t even have to pay for?

DeSantis has tricked Fedgov into paying state workers instead of Florida taxpayers?

Genius!!

Nice spin.

If he doesn't fire them, he doesn't have the balls.

By proving how far he will go and that he will basically do whatever it possibly takes to make sure kids can go another year without seeing each other’s faces in school?

THIS.....my kids have all been homeschooled, and now my oldest is making very good grades in a conservative college where he doesn't have to hear the poop that's being taught in state colleges.

This is not about the merits of public school. This is about Desantis's PROMISE that there will be no mask mandate in Florida public schools.

He cannot fire them directly nor possibly indirectly . He can push for independently run audits on those in charge though . The federal government probably has zero authority to give money independently to a local school to pay salaries as well

Voters like you are the reason Louisiana has JBE. Ignore all the upside and cut off your nose to spite your face on a single issue that won’t make a major impact long term.

Prove that a governor of a state cannot fire insubordinate state employees.

See, this is more bullshite spin.

I guarantee you the Dems will find a way to pay those people.

There is no upside if the next president has no balls and makes empty promises he doesn't intend to keep

I hope he does keep his promise.
If he does, he has my vote. If he doesn't, we need to look elsewhere,

So he's getting Biden to pay his teachers and this is a win for Biden.

Interesting.

See, your misleading people in two counts here. This involves only certain counties, and administrators, not teaches make the call.

So no one it taking about firing all teachers and you know it

I know many want Trump back in the WH, but if we keep up with these purity tests for other politicians, we'll be left with no one else on our side.

Dems perpetually overlook hypocrisy and broken promises, yet still stick together and back their candidates. At least on that one thing, I'd like the Right to do what the other guys do.

First, you’re assuming he has the authority to fire all those teachers. Huge assumption. Second, even if he could, you’re assuming there are enough qualified teachers available across the state to fill those positions after the school year has started. The disruption to education is definitely not needed after a year of Covid virtual learning and missed classes.

You are focusing on a megapixel of a very big picture. Zoom out and consider what is best for the students in his state.

Great question. I think his next move should be to declare an emergency and offer state funded vouchers to those in districts who decide to mandate masks.

This could be a litmus test to see how much the parents actually believe in the leadership of the school district or the governor. If they accept the vouchers, it strengthens Desantis’ position and makes Biden look weak and outmatched.
