My own mother won’t talk to me over politics. It’s been years.

Why would you openly admit on a public message board that your family is less intelligent than a box of rocks or kamala?

Dem sister canceled her own MAGA sister. Liberals could disagree and stay friends. Progressives are poor sports.

I don't talk direct politics to those that I know who are politically opposed to the 'Trump/MAGA' narrative. Otherwise, such would guarantee a dog fight. I will talk societal problems and possible solutions and usually go religious over political. And only religious if they are curious and open to such.

Respect above all, or it's a "falling out" for sure.

I'm sad to see so many posts. As the OP I'll share that I've had some real struggles with family as well. I've an uncle is such a radicalized liberal that he regularly posts some of the most vile anti-Trump shite on Facebook and doesn't want to have any interaction with anyone that is a conservative...Pretty much a lost cause.

My In-laws are the biggest problem. They are such good and decent people that have treated my like a so in my nearly 40 years of marriage to their daughter and I have to keep my mouth shut and bite my lip to avoid politics because it would destroy the relationship. They spend all of their time on MSNBC so that should explain enough. They have 2 kids one of which is my wife and a son. The Kids are staunch conservations so everyone walks on egg shells when in company. I used to verbally joust with my MIL but over the years she's become so radicalized I hade to back down.

It sucks.

Not one family member is anything other than hard core maga. Have a few distant cousins who are leftists but they don’t argue at any family gatherings because they are 2 of 30 or so family members around and with it being 28-2 they know they can’t win. These 2 will come around as they are out of school and working now. Won’t take long

Nope and we don’t agree on anything. My family is split. Intellectuals vs the evangelicals literally. We all still get together. We just don’t talk politics and if it does come up someone for the good of the event moves the conversation to something else.
During the last election, my parents asked me about “are you a trumper”? My response was no I’m for what is best for the country through my eyes. We got heated but they never could hit on policy only OMB and his mean tweets.

the topic is strictly avoided at family events with my SIL. Even if they say something, I just let it go. Would rather have a decent visit than a big argument

No.

I've had to drop a hammer on an idiot college aged moron a time or two, but no permanent damage.

I have a leftist moonbat cousin that I haven't spoken to in years. She's very pretty and fit, but she's also an insane Marxist that checks all of the boxes.

College professor
Feminist
Single mom
Rapidly pro-abortion
Leftist authoritarian
Cat rancher

The final straw was in 2016 on the night the whack-job in Dallas opened fire, killing 4 police officers. She and her leftist friends were absolutely giddy about it on Facebook. I told her to get fricked. Haven't spoken to her since.

I can't think of any on my side that are petty enough to abandon family over politics. I can hardly think of many that even lean left these days due to how fringe the Dems have gotten. My sister is a classic NOLA Democrat but even she lets us shite all over Dems without a fight these days.

I have a few in-laws that are pretty hard left. We've had a few interactions here and there but nobody fell out. Politics just don't come up in that company.

We disowned one of my sisters, when she supported her daughter getting the boobjob and hormones to pretend that SHE is a HE.
