Houston is located in Harris County

The County Judge is a position much like a city mayor or city manager. Harris County has a population of 4.7 million.

Lina Hidalgo is a 29 year old nobody democrat that got elected to the job in 2018 on the coat-tails of BETO running for senate. She is a prime reason why people should not vote straight party ticket.

She has been an inexperienced disaster.

Now Texas is opening back up, she wants us to tattle on business that are part of the "non-essential" like bars and nail salons.

Please fill out this form and tell her what you think of her idea.

Imagine for a second you have gone what 6 weeks or so without being able to relax and sit down in your favorite restaurant. You finally have the opportunity, you get served the meal you have been craving and the response is to count the number of tables:number of people and report them to get fined, causing the restaurant to lose money, minimum wage servers and busboys to miss out on tips etc.

Miserable people man.

There’s an easy way to stop this. Just file an FOIA act for these forms and then post them back to social media.

We shut that down in St. Louis. When Becky knows that when she tattles, her name gets posted to Facebook and Twitter, it dramatically slows the tattling.

They did that shite in St.Louis County, Local Radio guy , who's a MAGA, used sunshine laws to get every complaint.

He posted them, i'm on page 200.

These weasels got caught, many naming their own place of business, owners, etc. Some are companies asking if they can stay open, some from concerned people, some just flat out losers and weasels.

I do love the ones ratting on a company, then begging to be anonymous, so their loved one isn't fired, because there isn't openings right now for a new job. LOLOLOL

I bet almost 100% of the people who actually turn in one of those forms is a liberal. This kind of nasty nonsense is right up their alley

The lockdowns and shutdowns were over-done. I think we can all agree to that.

But ask yourself the following question:

If the County Judge were to promulgate a form on which residents could "tattle" upon businesses which were dumping toxic waste into Buffalo Bayou or the San Jacinto River, would you be equally-outraged?

If not, are you advocating that the County should enforce only those laws and regulations with which you are personally in agreement?

Dumping toxic waste into a river is a crime. Eating at a restaurant is not. Good grief!

You are seriously equating with a business serving it’s customers with a company dumping toxic waste? THAT’S your analogy?

How about you defend these actions based on legality and constitutionality, counselor? And stop throwing out ridiculous analogies?

The stupidest county executive/supervisor title I've ever heard of. Should be considered judicial impersonation.

The law is the law. Good post, Hank.

John Adams called a republic “a government of laws and not of men.”

The businesses that are complying with this deserve to have the law enforced upon those who are not.

What law, passed by the Texas State Legislators, and signed by the Governor, is that?

Can I get a citation please?

Good lord, am I actually arguing with people who do not understand the definition of an analogy? I suppose so.

No, it is not an analogy. It is simply an example of a law or regulation that most would support. I do not argue that they are alike in any way (rather a requirement for an "analogy"), except to the extent that both are "the law."

I have no intention of defending the stupid lockdown regs. As I said in my FIRST POST (for those who apparently cannot read Standard American English), they constituted severe overreach.

But my opinion on that issue has ZERO bearing upon the fact that they ARE the law in Harris County right now. I'm not reporting anyone BECAUSE I think the lockdowns are stupid, but I ALSO am not going to attack people who DO assist in enforcing a current legal restriction.

Need I use crayons for this sort of explanation?
