Thats why the made up people who call themselves Palestinians

Benedict Anderson wrote a seminal history of nationalism called Imagined Communties.

The title is why I bring it up. As he writes, nations are a group of people who decide they’re a people. It’s an act of self creation, and in many ways it is artificial and arbitrary. So as long as the Palistinians consider themselves a people, they are one.

I would also say, the people of the Arab peninsula are certainly Arabs, but when you leave the peninsula, you encounter pre Islamic influence. To call everyone in the region Arab means glossing over substantial cultural differences.

There is something different about the peoples of that coastal region. Just as the peoples of Syria and Lebanon are different.

And then you have the Palistinians conflict with their Jewish neighbors, that has also shaped a unique identity.

What does this have to do with the US?

The MIC, mainstream media and Israel firsters have convinced the average American that their hard earned tax dollars are worth wasting in a conflict thousands of miles away that has been raging for centuries.

The Palestinians

Never before in the history of the world have we seen a country called Palestine and we never will. "Palestinians" are a made up people used for political purpose against Israel and the West.

They have Jordan and all other neighboring Muslim countries to call home and yet they insist on stripping Israel of its land. Hamas needs to be ended and ended hard.

So if the Seminole Tribe of Florida insisted that, based on its religion and its controlling said land centuries earlier, it was entitled to all the land of Florida and that those people who had been living there for decades must be expelled to neighboring states, would that be ok?

There are thousands of Palestinians still alive today who were forcibly removed from their homes in 1948 and expelled from lands they had lived in for centuries. They have more of a claim to that land being theirs than a bunch of Zionist Ashkenazi Jews from NY who moved to Israel in the 1970's after Communism, beatnik philosophy and hippie philosophy didn't work.

Of course it wouldn't. Claiming ownership of land based on a religious text is spurious for everyone except Israelis.

No one on these forums would support the right of return other historically displaced people, such as the Circassians, to return to their native homeland, nor would anyone give any credence to Iranian claims to their former homeland in Central Asia.

The Palestinians and Israelis have to accept one another, at this point. I don't think the Israeli right has the political will to attempt integration, as they have a burgeoning demographic crisis, with Orthodox Jews and Muslim Arabs having higher birth rates. They've boxed themselves in with failed geopolitical adventures, and now need the West Bank for strategic depth. Maybe less US support would force them to act more pragmatically, which would be good for them.

There are dozens of groups of people that do not have their own countries. Are the Tamils, the Basques, the Kurds, the Uyghurs, the Catalans, the Romani, and the Bavarians all made up people, too?

We should never have allowed the Palestinians to move from other countries into the land occupied by the Israelis for generations and take away their land like that. We can't tolerate that kind of behavior as a global society.

haha! Do you really think that ANYTHING would placate those people? Nothing short of destroying Israel will do for them.

There’s a big difference between that example and the situation going on between Israel and Palestine. The Palestinians aren’t the original owners of Palestine and Israel. The Jews are. Too many people like you choose to forget that history goes beyond the time that the Muslims owned Israel and Palestine. They should just share the land but the Muslims over there refuse to share and only want bloodshed which is why we are where we are today. They tried to share the land after WWII but the Muslims refused to

They are actually. They share the same genetic roots with the Jews, and they are very closely related to each other, genetically.

The Palistians do have admixture from the waves of invaders who swept through the region, but they’re the people who’ve always lived there.

Before the Arab conquest they were Christian or Jewish. In the almost 14 centuries since then, most have converted to Islam.

Egypt has a peace treaty with Israel, no?

The zero sum attitude that is common in the region makes negotiations painful though. And a divided Jerusalem is a non starter, from an Israeli perspective. So it’s a moot in the end.

I like it.

Hmm, so Trump cuts off millions in donations to the terrorists in Palestine, and then sells weapons to Israel. Sounds like a business to me, ah to finally have a businessman in charge of the largest company in the world, I likes it.
