Probably not half, but a good number think it will improve if they can overthrow the traditional norms of society and rebuild the culture from the ground up. Orwell, Hayek and others tried to warn them that's the path to autocracy, but every now and then old lessons have to be re-learned the hard way.

I upvoted you but it really isn't half the country. It's probably 25% which is still absurd and ridiculous, but they're loud, amplified by all forms of media and using tactics that make themselves appear more formidable and in greater numbers.
In real life in everyday interactions, I do not see people that are out cheering for the death of America. I just see people living their lives and getting by. But when i turn on the news or open Facebook, I'm slammed in the face with propaganda and algorithms designed to infuriate me and create a greater divide between me and those who think differently than I do.

I support the men & women who serve our country. They are merely following orders and doing their jobs. I will always be very grateful for them.
However, I do not support the decision by Trump, and our government, to go to war with Iran. I did not support the decision by George W to go to war with Iraq or Afghanistan.
I can hate the fact that we are in this war, not support our decision to go, and at the same time, hope and pray for the safety of our troops and wish them all the very best.

Not counting foreign actors utilizing propaganda campaigns, it’s prolly way less than 10% that are extremely amplified and maybe another 15% that are gullible useful-idiots being led by their noses.
