Its utterly amazing how much this board can confuse the actual issue here.

Yeah this thread didn’t go the way I thought it would.

It went EXACTLY as I thought it would because I know this board.

That's why I just didn't bother starting the thread last night.

They truly do not understand that as a politician in a national campaign, in the North, in 2023, there is a complete layup answer to this, and that any other answer to this, regardless of its veracity, is a wetdream for Dems.

I agree totally. I'm surprised she replied that way. Definitely wasn't the easy answer. Unless things change, same thing started the first civil war Wii cause the next one. The "rich men north of Richmond".

Oh, no. I completely understand that the vast majority of Americans are functionally retarded and have to have their information spoon fed to them via 15 second tik tok clips where they are fed bullshite.

I just don’t give a shite about those functionally retarded imbeciles and I refuse to acknowledge their bullshittery.

It’s beyond time to stop playing into the retards fee fees and it’s time to have the grown ups back in charge.

Facts, not emotion.

The FACTS are, the civil war was fought over retaining the union. The civil war was NOT fought to end slavery and ending slavery didn’t become a war goal until the emancipation proclamation as a means to keep England and France from recognizing the confederacy.

Stop revisionist history. Stop giving into retarded peoples fee fees.

This is dumb.

The only reason the union had to be retained was because of the secession which is over slavery.

No. Facts are facts. I’m sorry you are too dumb to see that.

The union DID NOT have to be retained. That was a decision made by the aggressive party.

Read this again. The war began to keep the South from leaving. The South left due to the coming political war over slavery in the territories.

It was A cause.

It was not THE cause.

Okay? As I’ve stated many times before. I don’t care north or south. Both are to blame.

If that’s the line you want to go with then I support it

That's not the line I'm going with. I was running your analogy to it's end.

I want to hear you prove the war was over slavery in the face of everything provided in this thread.

Or

You could say you were wrong in saying the war was fought to free slaves. Slavery in itself is not an act of war, secession is not an act of war.

Also, Congress never declared war on the South, so was the whole thing merely the acts of a tyrant abusing powers he did not have?

Which was the confederacy.

By that same line of thinking - secession was not necessary either.

The south leaves because of slavery -> the union fights to keep them as part of the U.S.

Therefore the root cause of the war is slavery. This isn’t hard folks

You are I'll informed son. Slavery was not the cause, it was the justification the North gave. Apart from whether slavery was right or wrong, the federal government was over reaching and they never stopped. I suppose you're all for the over reaching of the federal government today....
There's no difference and will eventually lead to the same consequence.

So, therefore, slavery was the cause of the civil war.

Remember when you said slavery was the reason the north fought the civil war yet the north continued to have slaves after the last slave in the south was freed?

I member.

Weird how the side that was fighting to end slavery continued to have slavery until the ratification of the 13th.

Weird.

Must have been another reason to fight that war…. Hmmmmmmmm

They only fought on days that ended in "Y" therefore the calendar was the cause for the war.
