Busted for telling the truth.
quote:
Whatever the case, Mr. Hagel struggled to fit in with Mr. Obama’s close circle and was viewed as never gaining traction in the administration after a bruising confirmation fight among his old Senate colleagues, during which he was criticized for seeming tentative in his responses to sharp questions.
quote:
He raised the ire of the White House in August as the administration was ramping up its strategy to fight the Islamic State, directly contradicting the president, who months before had likened the Sunni militant group to a junior varsity basketball squad. Mr. Hagel, facing reporters in his now-familiar role next to General Dempsey, called the Islamic State an “imminent threat to every interest we have,” adding, “This is beyond anything that we’ve seen.” White House officials later said they viewed those comments as unhelpful, although the administration still appears to be struggling to define just how large is the threat posed by the Islamic State.

Administration hoped he would be a "yes" man. As unqualified as Hagel may be even he could not pretend that some things weren't a problem.

Well, all these old white men in government just don't know what they are doing any longer. It's time to replace them with inexperience and more modern ideas on how to do things.

Turns out there are lies not even a lifetime Senator will tell.

Give me Webb please.
Hillary won't like that.
Besides, there's no way you can fit both Obama and Webb's egos up on the stage.
Will be a bureaucrat. Michelle Flournoy?

So Chuck got chunked? These post-Obama years books to be written by former employees should make for good reading someday.

Perhaps he's getting tired of carrying the adminstration's water to allow cross-dressers and transsexuals into the military.

The Obama administration is always politics ahead of substance. Hagel dared to publicly disagree with Obama and he is forced to resign while we are in the middle of ramping up a military campaign.
This will be Obama's fourth Secty of Defense in six years.
Anybody noticing a pattern here?

Uhoh, there goes his one token establishment "Republican" on the national security team whose only role was supposed to be providing the fig leaf of "bipartisanship".
Where oh where will he ever find another RINO?

When the story first broke I told my wife "I'll bet Obama wanted Hagel to stick to talking points that were lies and Hagel refused."

Webb needs to run for President
This administration is spinning in circles

Either that or Valerie Jarrett wanted to send Hagel out on a beer run and Chuck refused.

Met her while I was a student at the Army War College. Intellectually very impressive. Not sure if she is ready for the entrenched bureaucracy at the Pentagon.
