One of the scary things about leftists is that they have a foundational belief that it's Ok lie, as long as you're doing it for a good reason.
"Sure, I lied but it was for a good cause. We're trying to save children from guns. What's worse: me lying or someone being killed by a gun?"
They will do it for any topic (abortion, whatever)
I believe the seeds for this started when children went from being taught simple core values: "Lying is wrong/ Telling the truth is right" to really pushing the 'grey area'.
It became: "Timmy, if you were in Nazi Germany hiding a family of Jews in your attic, and the SS knocked on your door, asking if there any Jews in the house... wouldn't you have to lie? By lying and saying "No" you're saving the lives of the family. So sometimes lying is OK. It can be a good thing - it just depends on the reason."
