Dude punched his wife what 10-15 years ago? Did they press charges? How in the hell would the FBI know if there is no criminal record. Did they interview the ex-wives? Does every sumbitch that works in the WH require a security clearance. Was he involved in looking at classified info? When 4 Americans died this was ok with Dems so why is a dude punching his wife 15 years ago a big deal?

He is gone. It is over. Llaw enforcement and litigators can handle it from here.

Also, is that all it takes these days, allegations? Was this guy ever arrested, charged with a crime, convicted of anything?
How do you have any job if you have credible allegations of domestic abuse?”

Check the VA thread.
Check every thread where it has been said that if _________ is guilty, fire/fry them (whichever is appropriate).
"Trumpkins" have no problem punishing the guilty, but a little due process and "innocent until proven" is all that is asked for.

Rob Porter Scandal

I used to think gowdy was the real deal, thought he actually cared. But not since the bengazhi and Hillary private server investigation. He talks a good game. He knows the song but can't dance. All hat and no cattle.
Pretty much this. He makes the right noises and fluffs up his conservative feathers yet defends the credibility of Mueller and his wolfpack. If he does more in this Porter investigation than bare his fangs and really draws blood he will have moved to the dark side if he hasn't been there all along.

Unless they show that the photographs were shown to Kelly, then this is all about nothing
Even if they did...
I was a first sergeant for a while and we had a few spouses on base pulling career wrecking stunts to get attention from their SO...happens all the time
Dudes and girls...one guy slammed his arm in a car door to prevent his wife from deploying...
A day later after cops not believing the abuse crap, dude came clean.

Like Trey, but his committee does not have oversight authority of WH personnel decisions.

Okay, so I used to actually conduct these investigations for TS/SCI Clearances. This is completely a non story.
Yes, everyone who works in the white hiuse needs a clearance.
Why this is a non-story:
Porter was granted an interim. The only way he could have been granted an interim is if his local and national area checks came back clean and he had good credit. If he had been arrested, charges filed, convicted, he doesn’t get that interim.
An investigation for a new TS/SCI currently takes 18/24 months. Let’s look at the timeline. Even if this guy started working at the WH on day one, he would still be inside that window.
What probably happened is he filled out his SF86 and probably listed the incidents as bitter ex wives. The investigator is obligated to speak to ex wives. The ex wives mentioned the event so the investigator spoke to neighbors of the residence, and anyone who could have known about it (friends). If the wife is the only one mentioning abuse, and no report is filed, what do you expect would happen?
The final investigation was sent tonadjudication in November, and new information was added in January. What probably happened is the WH asked for clarification on derogatory information. The clarification was given in January and the WH was probably preparing a decision. You u can’t wxpect the packet to be adjudicated in a a day and since they added info in January, they were still well within the window for decision.
This guy had his interim because he came back clean. Had any of his ex wives pressed charges, that doesn’t happen. If all of his neighbors and friends described him as a stand up guy and his ex wives said he wasn’t, the derogatory info would be included, but the weight of the allegations would be skewed because of the lack of corroborating witnesses, character witnesses, and report. The final packet may have been suggested for a denial, but since the final adjudication was not complete, we don’t know. The president can say screw the findings and grant the clearance anyway (Obama did this during his administration), but since that didn’t happen, this is one giant non-story.
Here is a link that gives you an idea as to how the process works.

Perhaps what Gowdy is doing is trying to attack the FISA issue in a roundabout way, because that shite should be a huge story.

Or Porter lied about the existence of a restraining order
Posted on 2/15/18 at 12:07 am to boosiebadazz
A restraining order should have popped up on the LAC/NAC. Lying on the SF86 would have sent up a ton of red flags. Either way, the WH obviously asked for clarification and that is why additional info was added in January. Because of that alone, it means his packet was within a reasonable window for a decision.
