Meanwhile fix the background check system so people like this can't buy the guns in the first place.

FBI tip line response: Sorry, we’re busy attempting a coup, please call back once the Deep State is secure.

The current director is new though. These failures occurred under Comey.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions called the Friday revelations into the FBI’s mishandling of tips of suspected shooter Stoneman Douglass High School shooter Nikolas Cruz “tragic,” before ordering Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to “conduct an immediate review” of both the Justice Department and FBI’s “process” in handling such cases. “It is now clear that the warning signs were there and tips to the FBI were missed,” Sessions wrote in a statement. “We see the tragic consequences of those failures.” “The FBI in conjunction with our state and local partners must act flawlessly to prevent all attacks. This is imperative, and we must do better,” he continued. Sessions demanded the review help both bodies “reach the highest level of prompt and effective response to indications of potential violence that comet to us.”

Coney would have investigated, but he didn’t see any intent.

The Miami FBI field office is literally down the road from this school.
From the FBI website:
It makes me sick thinking that there was a legit chance that this shooting could've been stopped had the FBI actually functioned as intended.
From the FBI website:

The FBI has 56 field offices (also called divisions) centrally located in major metropolitan areas across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. They are the places where we carry out investigations, assess local and regional crime threats, and work closely with partners on cases and operations. Each field office is overseen by a special agent in charge, except our offices in Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C., which are headed by an assistant director in charge due to their large size. Within these field offices are a total of about 380 resident agencies located in smaller cities and towns.

Trump needs to fire Comey again. Wray ain’t been on long enough to correct this shite, and that’s what the FBI has become under Obama....

quote:What should be done to "fix" it? Apparently Cruz wasn't arrested and convicted of any crimes that would have disqualified him from legally buying a firearm, and since he wasn't adjudicated as a mental defective, he was free to make the purchase.

ETA: we have to be careful to not disqualify most perfectly sane, law-abiding citizens from being able to exercise their rights just to weed out a few people who would happily go around the law to acquire firearms anyway.

The FBI was notified he was a threat and had a desire to kill people. He was also a member of a white nationalist group in Florida. That's reason enough for me.
The San Antonio shooter had been discharged from the military over a mental health issue. His definitely should have been picked up.
This is a very good point as well.

This has been shown to be false. I’m surprised you didn’t see the MSM going out of their way to retract the story.
