In light of Amendment 3 falling short, I want to make it very clear—if our teachers don’t get a permanent raise this year, nobody in state government gets a pay raise. I mean nobody,” Landry wrote on X.

I presume he's also including the pay raises for legislators currently being debated in the senate. (The house has already passed that raise.)

House Bill 1201 proposes increasing the salary for state lawmakers from $115,000 to $154,000. It also proposes a pay raise for the governor, increasing from $130,000 to $174,000.

How much is the proposed raise?

Not sure I’m on board with rewarding one of the worst school systems in the country with a raise. Unless this is an attempt to recruit higher quality teachers.

Amendment 3 was a bait and switch attempt to get access to savings accounts that was sniffed out as bullshite. And now he mad.

My advice is to put up a better amendment

State lawmakers don’t make $115,000. That figure must be referring to other elected positions ie Secretary of State.

Lawmakers make around $50k when their per diems are included.

This is awesome. We should do this to Congress for balancing the budget.

Do not equate state govt employees with elected ones. Two different things. Judges, etc always seem to still get a raise when the regular employees don’t.

Great!

I love this man!

Hey- cut state government officials pay 1% a year or cut 2% of the jobs a year.
