First time Bevin was a lousy incumbent that was disliked and had some legal issues I think. Cocaine Mitch hand picked Daniel Cameron next time. Cameron had worked u def McConell and Beshear hung that around his neck.

Al Gore lost Tennessee where he was from.
Clay Travis worked on his campaign as a low level student.
I'm curious as to his views on if home state matters in presidential race.

Bingo. This would be my biggest takeaway from this. No way was he a top 2 or 3 choice.

He won't be able to deliver Kentucky to Harris... but much like Vance for Trump... he's meant to talk to those other Midwest states (PA, WI, MI, MN) and help spread his party's message there
He won't help in those states either. He barely won his AG election (2200 votes) because his father is an almost universally loved former governor and was governor at the time of his election. He then barely beat Matt Bevin in his first governor run (5100 votes) because Bevin thought he was Trump and insulted a lot of people (even though his statements were true). He then beat Cameron last November more convincingly, (67,000 votes) but a lot of that had to do with him running ads of "former Trump supporters" supporting him over Cameron.
His entire political career is the coattails of his daddy and he won't be able to do that in other states.

He was a Covid authoritarian.
Remember hearing him on local radio in early Covid days fake crying in his daily pressers over how many more “KY souls were needlessly lost today”. Implied was due to Trump not doing more to shackle people in this homes and board the doors shut like the Chinese.

Cameron would've been a great governor and I was very disappointed he lost. I hate Beshear.

Didn’t he cost the state a shite ton of money from his covid shite with churches?

Beshear was a COVID tyrant but I don't remember any lawsuits in KY about that. California had some. He did shut down churches and refused to let people celebrate Easter at in-person service but kept liquor stores open. He posted police outside of a single man's home to force him to quarantine. He is a moderately attractive man who is able to hide his leftist views but he is a leftist through-and-through.
He is 100% in on DEI. He vetoed multiple bills to stop the trans insanity in KY, he vetoed school choice, he was the person who sued the former governor when Bevin tried to implement work/training/education requirements, and extremely modest monthly premiums ($5 maximum) for Medicaid. He sucks and will not help, at all, in the rust belt.

..”moderate democrat” from Kentucky favors mandates- Sounds like John Bel Beshear

Pete is my first choice. If it’s Beshear she has been rejected a few times. It can’t be her top pick.

PredictIt doesn't seem to be in on this news yet. If he is getting additional security detail that makes it pretty clear he will be the choice but it still shows Shapiro clearly the betting favorite. Granted, that really means nothing but news like this should swing the bets towards Beshear.

New Republic “The One Vice Presidential Pick Who Could Ruin Democratic Unity”
Shapiro lit up the Muslims a lot. I looked into his record. He spewed some venom when it’s comes to defending his Jewish people. They won’t like that at all.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Shapiro turned down the veep. It’s just not a good time to be a Jewish politician in America if you’re a dem. The other problem is if Kamala chose him and she got trounced and lost PA, Shapiro would have no national future.

He looks like a younger Mitt Romney.

Shapiro just surged on PredictIt. He went from ~$0.40 to $0.72 right before my posting of this. I haven't seen any news about Shapiro that would make it seem as if he was the choice so I wonder what caused that.

Would be a worse pick than Tim Kaine or Sarah Palin.

I would view this as the worst VP option for Harris to choose from out of the other noted leaders. Good....
Honestly, Josh Shapiro may be the frontrunner for the 2028 nomination. After DeSantis, he’s the most popular Governor in the country. Why the hell would he want an anchor like Kamala around him?
She’s relegated to people desperate for power with no path forward in their career or people who are extremely stupid. Honestly, it’s why I’d advise Kamala (no sarcasm) to go with Anthony Weiner, since he is an attack dog, the best debater that the Democrats have, disgraced, and extremely desperate for power. He excels in every area she does not (save for being a whore), and would be a decent pick.

I've said this in another thread but I could see him taking it specifically to say in 2028 that he did his part to try to stop Trump, and if he was the top guy, he would've done just that so give him his shot.

I imagine anyone that has a future in the party will decline attaching there brand to the Harris ticket.

Who knows. Maybe Shapiro sees the Newsoms and Whitmer as too formidable in ‘28.
