They’d have to find oil AND the UK would have to change its views on producing oil…
Yeah bud, what do you think is easier to do? A newly found basin with oil (or gas) more compatible with UK refineries would absolutely be exploited by the UK. You dudes are really committed to geopolitically retarded takes. It boggles the mind.

The British navy being so weak is kinda hilarious after centuries of ruling the waves.
It’s sad though and a lesson we should pay attention to when a nation loses its pride and culture to the voice of globalism and diversity.
They used to build ships like this
Now they can’t even keep a single destroyer in ship shape to make it to the Persian gulf

Atlanticism
Doesn’t really exist anymore.
I told you that Europeans going to bail on us.
You were aghast at my opinion.
Well, they bailed.
You were wrong.
Europe is almost a lost cause.
Why do you cling to outdated ideas such as Atlanticism?

Like subsidizing Europe?
Like allowing Europe to duck over the U.S. via shite trade deals?
Or you must mean Europe bailing on the USA?

America first?
That’s a weird take, but you do you.

Britain can't defend the Isle of Man from Muzzies. They chose to be overrun by Islam, their far-away holdings are lost to the first taker.

Hardly outdated and you are free to articulate your takes on what shape the world will take, but in a realpolitik sense, trading the UK for Argentina hardly seems like it has any advantages at all. Again, Argentina is not some sleeping giant or powerhouse. It is a historically mismanaged country with no martial tradition and absolutely no ability to even participate in anything the US wants to do.
In the broader scope, for the US, such a concession might shape things in the future and prevent Argentinian overtures with China (who were working hard to sell them JF-17s as late as 2023), but it is hard to imagine a world where Argentina of all places is geopolitically relevant to where they would displace the UK in importance. And regardless of how you feel about Europe, it is still an extremely important geopolitical region. If you feel that it would be better if the Europeans were left to their own devices, fine, but there is a reason why several states on the periphery wanted to prevent a Central European power from rising.

Like those in the North Sea that they were actually producing and then shut down? The ones that are right off their shore, with all of the infrastructure already in place? I’m so surprised to hear someone making the argument that the UK would exploit a new basin that I’m double checking to see if I missed something.

America first?
Yes, suggesting that Argentina is not all that relevant to US interests geopolitically while the North Atlantic, in a strictly geographic sense, is absolutely vital, is putting America first.

Which was the state of affairs that the US wanted.

Lol.

Yeah, American misadventures in the ME have worsened several demographic crises in Europe. Who would have thought they wouldn't want another potential clusterfrick to deal with, given the US's track record the last 20 years. It's like you think politics exists in a perfect vacuum where there is no cause and effect. It is an alarming way of thinking about the world.

The UK can’t be “traded” as they are no longer aligned with us.
Could that change in the future, yes. But not without MAJOR changes across the pond.

As far as I am aware, the North Sea oil is a mature basin where large reserves have already been extracted, and for which most of the remaining reserves are exported. But again, given that you seem to have taken the hypothetical quite seriously, why not regale me about the intricacies of North Sea oil and the politics around it?

U.S. = bad
Europe = great.
Thanks for spelling out your true feelings. Again, you do you.

Again, this does not mean what you seem to think it does. And in reality, this is not what is happening. If this were true, how would we know? In other words, there are hard geopolitical limits to test this theory of yours. What areas would be potential flashpoints in a situation as yours.

What makes you think that another Democratic administration won't revert course?

Well, if that is what you've taken from what I wrote, then I'm writing above your paygrade, as is usual. Run along and give me another gif dude. I'm sure that will work this time.

How quickly can that infrastructure be brought back online?

Argentina is closest country to Antarctica, which may have untold natural resources we may need sooner than later. 75% of the worlds fresh water is there, along with oil, gas, precious minerals and metals.
Trump is playing long game keeping China at bay.
The Brits would have to commandeer passenger ships to use as troop ships again. With todays weapons and technology, they would be 100x’s more vulnerable. Brits are letting the Falklands go this time around.

The most recent referendum has 99.8% vote for remaining British.
I believe the 0.2% against was genuinely 1 voter.
It is a desperate message if this is Trumps hot take.

I expect them too. They hate America as much as the leftist’s in charge overseas.
