I see your verse…
And I’ll counter that with…
And before you make up excuses of paying off the blood ransom “redeeming”, listen to what Yahweh had to say:
Yahweh is admitting he commanded child sacrifice. Do you understand that?
quote:
10There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD.
And I’ll counter that with…
quote:
“Consecrate to me all the firstborn. Whatever is the first to open the womb among the people of Israel, both of man and of beast, is mine.”
quote:
“You shall not delay to offer from the fullness of your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to me. 30You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep: seven days it shall be with its mother; on the eighth day you shall give it to me.
And before you make up excuses of paying off the blood ransom “redeeming”, listen to what Yahweh had to say:
quote:
and I defiled them through their very gifts in their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it that they might know that I am the LORD.
Yahweh is admitting he commanded child sacrifice. Do you understand that?

It doesn't surprise me when an atheist borrows from the Christian worldview to condemn things like slavery, rape, or murder.
Leave it to Foo to pretend Christianity discovered that things like rape and murder are bad.
Yes, I'm totally borrowing from Christianity and not from virtually every other ideology that came to the same conclusions.

It’s just not surprising at this point you don’t read the entire chapter when you pick your verses
Have you read Exodus 13? What does it say to concentrate them with?
The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether human or animal.”
Man that sounds like sacrificing if you take it out of context, but we are smart so we keep reading.
Literally 12 verses later:
“ 12 you are to give over to the Lord the first offspring of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the Lord. 13 Redeem with a lamb every firstborn donkey, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem every firstborn among your sons.“
Of course you want to ignore this. This would require you to be honest and take the whole context into consideration.

I don’t know why I bother with you. You don’t even read my whole posts, with the only other possibility is that you are retarded.
So “redeem” is the payment of a ransom. What would happen if someone couldn’t pay the ransom? Would they then have no choice but to offer their firstborn as a burnt offering?

You show post after post that you have a preconceived conclusion that you are trying to draw, and no amount of proof will change your mind. Every verse you cherry pick I provide an answer to anfter showing you the context and it’s still not good enough and you move the goalposts.
Keep shoving that square peg into the round hole.

Amazing. You did it again.
You haven’t even read the whole chapter. That whole chapter is talking about how Israel keeps rejecting God’s law and reverting back to the local pagan practices. That verse is an example of it, God gives them over to the consequences of sacrificing their sons.
Keep posting.

Exactly. They have a deep void on the inside that they think money and materialism can fill, when that’s not reality.

Projection at its finest. Just pretend that Ezekiel 20:26 doesn’t exist. Pretend those contradictions actually all state the same thing. Nice.

Let’s see what it says:
And you responded with:
But let’s analyze that based on what Yahweh said:
I’m going to go with Yahweh did it, not that he “gave them over to the consequences” or whatever you are parroting from FooLaneCraig.
You allege that:
But Yahweh actually gives you the reason why he defiled them and why he made them sacrifice their children.
Yahweh gives the same reason why he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, why he killed the Egyptian firstborn, and why he drowned the Egyptian army. From exodus 14… so “that they would know I am the LORD.”
Your god Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, because he is jealous and an egotistical genocidal maniac, wants everyone to know how badass he is. Why would it matter though if he is the only god? Answer: he’s not. He’s extremely insecure about himself, constantly telling the Israelites that they are not to worship all those other gods, and forcing the Israelites to write prayers like Psalm 89 which asks which other gods in the heavens can compare to their mighty Yahweh.

You make the common mistake of thinking of God in terms of a human person.
There is a distinction between the God “I am who am”, who is the creator and the originator of life and all things, and the pantheistic gods of the pagan world, who were all named by men to describe some force in the created world that men did not understand. They were all CREATED as conceived by men. Yahweh is the CREATOR.
So, as men tried to understand the nature of being, and of the guided forces of the world, they did not separate the forces and patterns of the created world from the creator himself.
If sinful men created chaos by their sin, the people of the Bible understood that the consequences of chaos they created/invited was inseparable from the natural judgement of the Creator.
Remember what God said to Cain who was upset that his sacrifice wasn’t pleasing to the Lord:
Notice how the author personifies sin, as it crouches at the door of an angry Cain.
The wages of sin is often not delineated from the concept of the wrath of God.

Can you provide evidence of that, without referring back to your own religious man-made scripture in a bout of vicious fallacious circular logic?
quote:
pantheistic gods of the pagan world
quote:
1God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
6I said, “You are gods,
sons of the Most High, all of you;
quote:
You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God
Nothing to see here, folks.
quote:
who were all named by men to describe some force in the created world that men did not understand
Sounds like a certain Yahweh…
quote:
7Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. 8Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. 9He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. 10He rode on a cherub and flew; he came swiftly on the wings of the wind. 11He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water. 12Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds. 13The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire.
quote:
7O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, Selah 8the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. 9Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;
quote:
3He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind
You know honestly it sounds a lot like Yahweh is responsible for earthquakes and clouds and rain and wind and hail and volcanoes. Have you ever read the Bible? Sounds exactly like that other Canaanite storm god… eh what’s him name.. oh yeah - Ba’al!

If you can destroy children in the womb this is the next step. Society is losing it's soul. There are far too many stories of mothers and fathers killing their children and it's getting worse.
DEMOCRATS MOSTLY.
