The Georgia Senate on Friday gave final approval to a bill that would let Georgians carry a concealed handgun without getting a license from the state.
Senate Bill 319 would allow Georgians to carry a concealed handgun everywhere license holders currently are allowed to carry them. Guns would still be prohibited in the secured areas of airports, government buildings that have security at the entrance and other secured areas.
Under the bill, only those who are legally allowed to carry a gun could carry a concealed handgun. Those who could not carry a concealed weapon include people who have prior drug convictions, have been convicted of a felony or are facing felony charges, or have been treated for mental health issues or substance abuse issues within the past five years.

SB 319 passed by a vote of 34-22. The measure now goes to Gov. Brian Kemp, who has said he supported passing legislation to allow handguns to be carried without a permit.

Hot-lanta is about to heat up.

I'm curious, does that mean they will stop issuing CC permits, or that you just won't need one.
I'm wondering how current reciprocity states (Alabama, Tennessee, SC, etc.) will handle reciprocity without a permit at all.

The state would still issue concealed-carry permits to allow Georgians to take advantage of gun carry “reciprocity” with other states. Such agreements allow gun owners to carry concealed handguns in states that offer the same permissions.

I still can't believe Louisiana fricked that up last year and didn't pass CC for us.

As an example, in Ohio where they recently signed that a CC license was no longer needed to walk your dog, go to a football game, etc. and legally conceal/carry now; you still need licensing there to DRIVE with one and a couple other stipulations.
Guessing GA probably has similar wording.

CC Permit from GA. could actually mean something to another state if you are there. Not having one could mean something you don't want know about in another state.

The way it should be. With all the left wingers out there and how they are it simply makes sense to carry at all times. You never know when you will need it

The sad part the bill of rights already gave you this power before unconstitutional state laws that violate the 2nd amendment took it away.

Any place that doesn't allow guns should have a secure check-in so that people don't leave their firearms in their car where they can and often will be stolen.

Good question, especially since Georgia doesn’t have a concealed carry permit per se, but it is a carry permit that allows concealed or open carry. How does this effect open carry?

A good question. I'm on my phone but does a Gerogia CCW bypass NICS?
It's the best part of my permit outside reciprocity. I send my online orders to a FFL transfer only place and put my card on the table and walk out in less than a minute.
When I'm not buying a gun in the Applebee's parking lot just because I love that.

I get this and don’t disagree but goddamn, there are some straight retards out there. I think of all the idiots who’ve been negligently issued drivers licenses. People have 2A rights but we’d all benefit of people would also get some basic training.

But but certain posters have assured me Georgia is blue.

And they called an override session and pussied out instead of vetoing it.
