Being 95 is the main contender.

So being 95 also killed his younger wife and dog? Damn, I hope I don't make it to 95 and it kills my family.

An investigation is underway after actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 64, were mysteriously found dead alongside a dog in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home, authorities said.

The couple was found Wednesday afternoon during a welfare check after their neighbor called and was concerned about their well-being, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Denise Avila said.

"Foul play is not suspected as a factor in those deaths at this time however exact cause of death has not been determined," the sheriff's office said.

The Academy Award-winning actor was found on the floor in the mud room, according to the search warrant affidavit. It appeared he fell suddenly, and he and his wife "showed obvious signs of death," the document said.

Arakawa was found lying on her side on the floor in a bathroom, with a space heater near her dead, according to the search warrant. Her body showed signs of decomposition, the document said.

On the counter near Arakawa was an opened prescription bottle, with pills scattered, according to the search warrant.

I could be wrong but the effects from carbon monoxide are usually readily evident.
Are you talking at autopsy or to the one exposed to the CO? Odorless and tasteless. You fall asleep from it and you don't wake up. Yes - at autopsy, carboxyhemaglobin levels are easily detected.

I bet his wife is thinking "what the hell! I didn't marry an old man just to die next to him!"

Wonder what the autopsy will reveal ? Always liked his films , especially the French Connection and Hoosiers
He always played the bad guy. Examples: No Way Out (just watched this again a couple of weeks ago) and The Firm.
