At 5% growth, how long before we can pay down debt and have a balanced budget?

Well since 5% is nowhere near realistic, it's a moot point; however, our deficit continues to increase so unless they make major budget cuts, and the huge increase in defense funding pretty much ensures that doesn't happen, we won't be approaching a balanced budget anytime soon--nevermind the debt, which would require much more.

But since nobody seems to actually care about the deficit or debt, I'm now taking the stance that I may as well support loan forgiveness so I can personally benefit.

TBH that was not one of his better moments

It's a pretty basic concept in sociology, but I guess the ~rationalist~ crowd is pretty skeptical of soft sciences (George Mason economists excepted) and needs to rediscover things for themselves
