And see I believe as a Christian and follower of Christ, that God will bless this country and its people if we allow them to make their own decisions based on his teachings, and not forcing our citizens to follow his teachings by rule of law. Of all the gifts he gave us, the freedom to make our own choices (including whether or not to follow him) is up there with some of the best and most important.

The government should operate similarly, their rules should be secular and allow citizens to make their decisions to honor him or not, or more likely learn from their mistakes and continually get better at honoring him throughout their life.

With all due respect, this is just a very progressive take on Christianity. As much as homosexuality is immoral, I don't think we should make law banning it, for the reasons you mentioned. However, I didn't say legally ban homosexuality, and you know that. This is about gay marriage. Marriage was never intended for homosexuals. It was meant as a covenant between one man and one woman, under the Lord. Period. It was never supposed to be a piece of of paper for people to manipulate into financial gain. Allowing gay marriage to be legalized was an infringement on that covenant.

But progressive "Christianity" sees marriage as just that piece of paper that I spoke of, and says "gays should get the same marital benefits, because it's supposed to be a free country". Wrong, my friend. At NO point are we expected, as Christians, to simply get out of the way of evil and allow it to destroy God's moral law.

If people choose to live a lifestyle of rebellion against God, that's on them, and they are free to do so. They are not free to choose the consequences. But to say that we should allow such behavior to be SANCTIONED by law, is not acceptable. And there is where I think you miss the point. Confusing the matter of making a law, vs having allowed a law to give "legitimacy" to homosexual marriage.

By your own definition, this would mean that we also should not fight abortion, because it's taking the decision out of the hands of the mother. Never mind the unborn child who has no say in the matter. Is this really the stance you want to take as a Christian? I hope not.
