Because Schiff intentionally spread lies and misinformation about the sitting president of the United States. Blatant dishonest shouldn’t be accepted as just “politics.” Schiff’s actions were corrosive to our body politic

What does a meaningless show-vote with a ridiculous and unenforceable fine do to rectify any of those things?

Meaning you don't see him at the family reunions? Maybe he was busy at the speed-dating event.

They were going to fine him 16 million included in the resolution.

The resolution has no enforcement mechanism for the fine, and the fine itself is constitutionally questionable at best.

It’s pure theater.

The censure isn’t meaningless. It’s recorded in the Congressional Record for time immemorial. Schiff deserves worse but he certainly deserves censure. Graves disgraced himself. Both Graves and Cassidy need to be replaced with actual conservatives.

So what? Everything they do is theater. Why not jump on board and show some backbone instead of being a bitch?

To what effect? It’s the very definition of meaningless. It does absolutely nothing.

Because I oppose meaningless political theater and all non-binding resolutions uniformly.

Why is hopping on the meaningless political theater bandwagon “having a backbone”? Does it take some sort of courage to vote for a purely symbolic measure that has absolutely no effect on anything?

A written action of Congress censuring a sitting member for his conduct isn’t nothing. It’s no different than a criminal conviction for a misdemeanor offense. It may be a slap on the wrist but the record follows the person going forward.

Yes, it is nothing. It has zero effect on anything whatsoever, beyond adding a page to the Congressional Record. It does nothing to punish anyone. It’s as meaningless as an impeachment without a conviction. Nothing more than a useless resolution (piece of paper) passed by the House.

It is entirely different from a criminal conviction and is in no way similar.

It’s not even a slap on the wrist. It’s literally just a piece of paper. It has no impact whatsoever on the person being censured.

We’ll at least you’ve finally acknowledged a censure vote is actually something as opposed to nothing.

Huge disappointment and I can't wait for his little postcard summarizing how great he is for the people of Livingston Parish.

Quite the opposite. I’m sorry you ascribe meaning to pieces of paper that impact nothing other than papering the national archives.

Is he still rocking the cheesy LA/MS frat-swoop?

Does he have a Ducks Unlimited sticker on the back of his pickup with the never-touched bed?

Pushing the Russian Collusion when you know it's 100% false?

That's rational and not ridiculous?

This is absolutely fricking ridiculous. Until the republicans can vote in lock step like Dems, they’re fricking finished.

This makes me mad.

Because Garret Graves actually works for his constituents instead of fricking around.

I don't know if you're old enough to remember this but back in 2016 Louisiana flooded. Garret Graves office spent years fighting to help people here recover. Not theater. He authored bills and lobbied and held town halls to listen to people. If your insurance denied your claim you could write his office and he would have his office fight your insurance for you.

The man isn't about theatre, he's about working for the people who put him in office. If he voted against censuring Schiff then I trust he has his reasons. He's already proven he's here for us and not just fricking around.
