One reason I love gridlock is because it prevents the government from further expanding into the private sector.

Dude on CNN says it is remarkable how obama's approvals remain so low despite growth, well maybe this is why. Gridlock is keeping policies from being passed. Which is good.

The economy is not improving.

The labor participation rate is at a 36 year low.

One or two good months do not make a trend, it only makes up for a horrible winter.

It definitely is improving, but obviously not because of White House authority. Gridlock has prevented the White House from interfering with the economy.

Almost half of this board probably believes the numbers are all made up. If drudge, zerohedge, blaze say the economy sucks, the economy sucks.

Deal with it. Facts don't matter.

Rick Santelli on CNBC had a funny quote... He was talking about how good things have gotten and how the govts interference has drawn it out to this point. That it should have happened much sooner... He said "The Govt prescribed a 6yr treatment for a 2yr illness"

Yeah you're right Obama and the democrat party would never do that. They would never lie or deceive us.

Equally amusing are the dems trying to take credit for it.

Dems taking credit for this is like les miles taking credit for an 11 win season if he went 5-7 the first 5 years.

Normally, that would be true.

However, there is the regulatory state, which continues unabated.

I was really surprised the Republicans didn't try to take credit for it. None of the crises (shutdown/debt limit) have seemed to be able to stop this train.

Government spending increases have slowed considerably.

If you believe limiting spending helps improve the economy, Republicans should be credited for it.

I really wonder if this is a state-driven improvement or a federal-driven improvement.

If it's the former, republicans can take credit, since they dominate the state governments.

This is because economies ebb and flow to many factors, very few of which depend on who's running congress or who is in the WH. Of course, the "stupid American voter" doesn't get this, which is why listening to BO and Romney debate about how they were going to improve our economy was a waste of time back in 2012.

I love it when there are arguments like this one between right wing crazies.

To sum this up, either:

The economy is not improving AND Obama is responsible for it

OR

The economy is improving BUT Obama is not responsible for it.

You guys are soooo funny sometimes.

Who believes that? Short-term it helps.

But long-term either the taxes or the debt incurred to pay for the spending drag down the economy.

The same goes for dems, jersey Greaseball. The first 5 and a half years of this presidency, we have heard nothing but "obstructionist government to blame for terrible economy"!

Now, things are better, and the president gets credit.

Pick your poison, Jersey Greaseball.

You do admit that you were having a debate with a few right wingers who are in total denial that the economy is improving, right? That should be a pretty easy fact to agree on, no?

Personally I believe the economy is improving because we are recovering from the huge banking disaster in 2008. We are naturally returning to a healthier state after the economy was depressed and nearly destroyed by criminals. I wouldn't give either side any special "credit" for doing anything about it. But I am pretty certain that the gridlock by some of the Republicans have hurt any progress in a number of other areas.

Overall I like what Obama has done and wish the Republicans tried to align with him more than just outright oppose him on everything.

Wages are still at 2007 levels. After factoring in inflation things still feel tough out there.

The economy HAS improved, but wages have not.

I agree, but I think the falling oil prices have more to do with improvements in the economy.
