only 1000 cases a year of Ramsey Hunt Syndrome and you know two people that had it?
dang, you should play the lottery.

That’s like the people who know 5 healthy/fit 35 year olds that died because of the virus.

I am not saying it isn't vax related. but he got the rare virus from Shingles. I have heard there are A LOT of shingles cases suddenly.
The border crossers could be bringing the shingles?
Biden bused in more the other night to various States. No one is talking about it over the jail Trump nonsense.

Ramsey Hunt isn’t rare, it’s just shingles that effects a specific nerve. I see it once a month
It’s vastly under reported because most people don’t go to the doctor and doctors miss it a lot

The vast majority of people who get shingles don’t go to the doctor. Case numbers for diseases like that are wildly inaccurate.

1000 cases of Ramsey Hunt Syndrome a year, not 1000 cases of shingles a year.
Ramsey Hunt Syndrome is rare, Shingles is common.

my understanding is....
You can't catch shingles.
Shingles occur only in people that have had chicken pox.
A person that hasn't had chicken pox can catch chicken pox from shingles blisters, but you can't catch shingles.

They do if the hurtful sores show near their eyes.
BTW: What are the studies on naturally getting over shingles; versus taking the anti-viral meds? Any side effects of the meds?

I did not have chicken pox as a child. I was told I was at more of a risk to get shingles.
It is indeed contagious when the sores are in blister formation but. For whatever reason I have not looked into it really-there are a lot of cases of shingles right now. Or so I have heard...
Shingles is communicable like chicken pox, no?
Don't know if there is any correlation with chicken pox causing shingles outbreak?

What the Hell relevance does a COVID vax have to contracting Ramsey Hunt Syndrome?
This is a REALLY stupid thread.

I also have seen that IF YOU HAD chicken pox as a child you are at higher risk to get shingles down the road.
So I am confused.

It’s really not. No one knows how a politically motivated and not fully tested vax might damage peoples immune system. So it’s not stupid to question lib mandates. Couple that with the obvious observation that libs like to ruin lives, and what are you bitching about again?

Yes, I do. But him saying that he’s pure blood so he doesn’t have to worry about it is false. I know he was trying to be political, but the Vax isn’t the cause of this…it might increase the risk of it reactivating, but he acts like the Vax caused it

Ramsay-Hunt syndrome typically manifests with a vesicular rash on the concha and external auditory canal associated with peripheral facial paralysis. This is caused by reactivation of latent varicella-zoster virus within the geniculate ganglion, in association with factors that influence immunosuppression, including immunosenescence.
We recently assessed a female patient at our centre who exhibited symptoms consistent with Ramsay-Hunt syndrome following administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Chicken pox is Varicella-Zoster, a virus in the herpes family, that’s what Shingles and Ramsey Hunt are when “Chicken Pox” erupts in the nerves in a perfect dermatome distribution, latent from childhood infections. Ramsey hunt is shingles of the face, and Shingles is a latent eruption of the virus along the sensory nerves, usually sequestered in the dorsal root ganglion in the segmental distribution of the spinal column and base of the brain. It lives there because it’s hard for the immune system to penetrate that area and protect it… when it erupts, it’s usually like Chichen pox, but very focal to the nerve distribution it affects, and the immune system attacks the nerve ending because it can penetrate that area, and release free oxygen radicals that blister the skin and cause inflammation that is very painful. Facial nerves have motor function, so it’s a lot worse there….usually only seen in old people with decreased immunity

If you can only get shingles if you have had chicken pox, then how can you be more at risk of getting shingles if you haven't had chicken pox?
My understanding is that chicken pox can be more serious if you get them as an adult, and that you can catch chicken pox from shingles blisters (also of course from people with chicken pox), but you can't catch shingles.
Shingles is chicken pox reactivating, usually decades later.

It took y’all way longer than I thought to try to blame this on the vaccine.
